1 GENERAL BUSINESS CONSENT AGENDA FOR CURRICULUM, LEGAL, FISCAL, FACILITIES, POLICY AND PERSONNEL MATTERS REQUIRING A VOTE November 20, 2007 CURRICULUM COMMITTEE A - Curriculum Resolutions Grants State & Federal/Private A-1. A-2. Approve submission of the application for Combined IDEA-B Basic Funds in the amount of $6,414, and IDEA-B Preschool Funds in the amount of $194, for the fiscal year 2008, for the academic advancement and achievement of students with disabilities. Approve submission of the amended FY07 IDEA-B Basic and IDEA-B Preschool application to include the FY06 carryover funds of $1,097, for IDEA-B Basic and $57, for IDEA-B Preschool, for the academic advancement and achievement of students with disabilities (ages 3-21). Educational Programming A-3. A-4. A-5. A-6. Approve the Language Arts Secondary curricula frameworks and courses for study for grades 9-12 for use in the district s schools during the school year or until such time as they are modified and presented to the Board of Education for review and approval, and that the anticipated cost for the implementation of this curricula would impact the fiscal year, and may require the district to expend approximately $1,500, from the school years for textbooks, software and instructional equipment. Approve the K-12 NJCCCS 9.1 and 9.2 Career and Technical Education Frameworks as grades K-8 curriculum in schools with Family and Consumer Science programs, and as integrative units in the discipline-based courses of study in grades 9-12; and the K-12 NJCCCS 9.1 and 9.2 Career and Technical Education Frameworks as grades 5-8 curriculum in schools with Family and Technology programs, and as integrative units in the discipline-based courses of study in grades 9-12, and that the anticipated cost for the implementation of this curricula would impact the fiscal year, and may require the district to expend approximately $170, from the school year for textbooks and instructional equipment. Approve submission to the New Jersey Department of Education of the Early Childhood Program Two Year Report on Instructional Priorities for the school years, and the One Year Programmatic budget for the school year, in the amount of $45,552, Approve entering into an agreement with MyTutor24, a division of Coaxis Services, Inc., Passaic County Educational Services Commission, and Studentnest, Inc., as a Title I Supplemental Educational Service Provider for eligible students under the No Child Left Behind Act, at a maximum amount of $1, per student for services.

Parks School of Fine & Performing Arts for an Artist in Residency Program in Theatre Arts and Scriptwriting by providing 40, 90 minute master classes for students in the dramatic and communication arts departments, on the school campus, beginning January 2008 through May 2008, at a total cost of $8, Approve partnership with the Princeton Center for Leadership Training (PCLT) to host and facilitate the New Jersey Peer-to-Peer Day of Learning for a leadership development retreat for 128 eighth grade students from Schools 9, 15, 21 and 24 on November 28, 2007, at the Paul Robeson Center, Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey, to provide valuable resources in primary prevention programming, at an amount not to exceed $ for transportation, with all other costs paid by PCLT. Approve partnerships in education with C.A.S.A., C.U.M.A.C., Paterson Library, Paterson Museum, PCCC Daycare/Culinary, ShopRite, Stop & Shop, Eva s Village, Foundations for the Handicapped and Gina s Bakery, in order to continue to provide structured learning experiences to the cognitively impaired and autistic students at S.T.A.R.S. Academy as per their IEP. Approve implementation of the Free Teens Leadership Training Program at the Alternative Middle School, to conduct presentations on goal setting, character development, relationship skills, respect between men and women, teen pregnancy, STDs, HIV/AIDS and drug prevention, on January 4, 7, 11, and 14, 2008, at no cost to the district. Special Education A-11. A-12. Approve contract with Loving Care Agency, Inc. to provide nursing services as per student s IEP, during the school year, at an amount not to exceed $30, Approve entering into a contract with Bergen Special Services to provide educational services to students during the school year, at an amount not to exceed $131, A-13. Approve submission to the Passaic County Superintendent of Schools a Request to Establish or Eliminate a Special Education Program or Service form for review and approval to create ten new self-contained special education programs to address the needs of students requiring the services of selfcontained autistic, multiple disabilities, behavior disabilities and learning language disabilities, at Schools 2, 8, 10, 20 and 24 (NRC), at a start up cost of $168,112.00, with a costs savings of $323, to the district. A-14. Approve submission to the Passaic County Superintendent of Schools a Request to Establish or Eliminate a Special Education Program or Service form for review and approval to reduce the amount of transportation cost and to provide services in the neighborhood schools, for Schools 4, 6, 11, 29, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Dale Avenue.

Ratify the action of the Superintendent for staff and parents to attend the National Coalition of ESEA Title I Parents 34 th Annual Conference, from October 30 through November 4, Approve attendance at conferences/workshops for board member. Approve payment of bills and claims dated November 2007 in the amount of $11,142, starting with check number and ending with check number Appropriation Adjustments C-2. Approve transfer of funds within the school year budget for the month of September 2007, so that no budgetary line item account has been over-expended and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district s financial obligations. Acknowledge receipt and accept the Monthly Financial Reports, Board Secretary A148 and Report of the Treasurer A149, for the month of September Award of Contracts C-4. C-5. Approve continuation of the contract with SchoolDude to provide an online tool that will improve the efficiency of the maintenance program, facilities use and utility (energy) use to improve the overall condition and function of all facilities, which includes annual fees for Maintenance Direct, PM Direct, Inventory Direct, FS Direct and Utility Direct, for the school year, a total cost of $28, Approve award of a contract with Allstate Information Management for the storage, protection and delivery of 10,000 boxes of school district archived records, for the school year, at a cost not to exceed $12,
