2 SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB WORLD UNIVERSITY FATEHGARH SAHIB ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAMME-2018 GUIDELINES FOR Ph.D. ENTRANCE TEST The Ph.D. test will be held on August 30, 2018 (Thursday) in University Campus only. Registration will start at 9:00 am sharp. 2. Application cum registration form can be obtained from the university on payment of Rs. 500/- through demand draft in favour of Registrar, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Payable at Fatehgarh Sahib or by cash payment at the spot. 3. In case the admission form is downloaded from the University website, it should be submitted complete in all respects along with Application cum Registration fee of Rs. 500/- in the form of demand draft in favour of Registrar, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Payable at Fatehgarh Sahib. 4. The Entrance test fee of Rs. 1,000/- is to be paid through demand draft in favour of Registrar, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Payable at Fatehgarh Sahib along with the application form. Entrance test fee can also be deposited by cash at the spot. In such a case, the fee receipt should be enclosed with the application form. 5. Candidates have to download the admit card from University website and submit the same after pasting self-attested photograph along with the Application Form. 6. The test will comprise of the following two papers, each of 60 minutes duration: a. Paper-I (Common for all subjects) will contain 60 objective type multiple choice questions Scope: General Aptitude, Reasoning, Numerical/Mental Ability, Indian education system, Analytical skills/research aptitude, Environment, Language proficiency, Teaching Aptitude and any other topic covered in Paper I of the UGC-NET. b. Paper-II (for subject opted by candidate for admission) will contain 60 objective type multiple choice questions Scope: Core areas relating to the concerned discipline/subject. c. The syllabus of the test will be the same as the syllabus of UGC-NET or GATE. d. A minimum of 40% marks are required in each paper to qualify the test. e. All candidates should appear in the entrance test for admission to Ph.D. program. However, those candidates who have qualified UGC NET (including JRF)/ UGC - CSIR NET (including JRF) SLET/GATE or have passed M.Phil. program are exempted from Paper-II. Applications of foreign students who wish to seek admission directly (without sponsorship) to Ph.D programme shall be examined Page 2 of 10

The date for the same will be notified separately. f. Candidates except those mentioned under (e) above must appear in both the papers of the entrance test. g. There is no negative marking for the test. h. Candidates must attach one self-addressed envelope of 9cmx4cm with stamps worth Rs 10/-. i. Candidate awaiting the result of qualifying examinations can apply provisionally in anticipation of his/her result. Eligibility Criteria for Admission: (i) (ii) (iii) Master s degree with at least 55% marks o r 5.5 CGPA out of 10 (50% marks or equivalent CGPA for SC/ST candidates, OBC (non -creamy layer), differently abled persons who have at least 40% disability) or those who had obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19 th September, 1991 from a recognized Indian or Foreign University in the subject concerned or allied-subject. The eligibility of foreign students shall be determined on the basis of recognition of their degree s equivalence to (a) above by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi or any other notified authority for the purpose by the Government of India. Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme. In case of a book, selection committee will decide about the weightage, considering the quality of book. Application Fee of Rs.500/- and Entrance test Fee: Rs. 1,000/-; through a Demand Draft in favour of Registrar, SGGSWU, payable at Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. Fee can also be deposited by cash at the spot. 2. Two passport size photographs. 3. Self-attested copy of Aadhar Card. 4. Self-attested photocopies of DMCs and Certificate / Degrees of the following examinations: a) Secondary/Matriculation b) Senior Secondary/10+2 c) Graduation d) Post-Graduation e) M.Phil. f) UGC/CSIR-JRF/GATE certificates g) Any other qualification etc. 5. The following documents will have to be submitted after selection: a) Migration Certificate, in case of candidates who have passed their last examination from a University other than SGGSWU. b) Domicile Certificate. c) In case of candidates in service, No Objection Certificate from Employer.
