4 Appendix C SAINIK SCHOOL NALANDA (BIHAR) SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES SEEKING ADMISSION ADMISSION IN CLASS VI 1. Only those candidates who have completed 10 years and below 11 years of age as on in 01 Jul of the year of admission are eligible. For admission to Class VI for Session , the candidate should have been born between 02 Jul 2000 and 01 Jul Boys are admitted to Class VI according to the seats available at the beginning of the year. The admission will be made on the basis of an All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination. The Examination for the forthcoming academic session will be held on 02 Jan 2011 (Sunday). The applications are required to be submitted by 10 Dec Only prescribed proforma (serially numbered) at Appendix-A to the prospectus is to be filled in all respect as per the instructions given in the Second Page of the Application Form as well as guidelines given in the School Prospectus. DATE & TIME OF EXAM 2. The boys are admitted according to the seats available at the beginning of the year. DATE AND TIME OF EXAM 5. 5 (a) Similar copies of recent passport size photographs taken on or after 25 Sep 2010 are to be affixed on Application Form (one) and Identification Cards (two). (b) The photographs affixed on the Application Form must be attested by the Principal/Headmaster of the School in which the boy is studying. In case of Private Study the same must be attested by a Gazetted Officer. (c) Identification Card (Appendix B ) with details be properly filled in. The candidates should append his signature on photographs. Fill the address slip with latest correspondence address clearly and send along with the filled in application form. (d) Attach a Certificate of Proof of Date of Birth obtained from the School in which studying. In case of Private Study attach a photocopy of Birth Certificate obtained from the Registrar of Births & Deaths, Municipal Corporation / Nagar Panchayat duly attested by a Gazetted Officer. (e) Attach attested photocopy of Caste Certificate in case of SC / ST candidates obtained from SDO / DM of concerned Division / District, failing which application will be rejected. (f) In case of Ex-service personnel, a certificate from the District Sainik Welfare Officer is to be attached for their eligibility as Ex-service personnel. Serving Defence Personnel are required to submit a Service Certificate from their Commanding Officer and Date of Birth Proof (DO Part II Extract) in respect of their child from Service Records. (g) Application without proof of Date of Birth and Caste Certificate will be rejected. 8. Only those boys who are within the age limits are eligible to apply. There is no relaxation of age limits to any category. 9. Candidates who have appeared earlier in the Entrance Examination to Class VI and IX are not eligible to appear again for the Entrance Examination for the same class. 10. Applications found in order ONLY will be registered and the Identification Cards will be dispatched. 11. Request for change of centre of examination or change in medium of question papers will not be entertained. 12. Full postal address to which Identification Card and other communications are to be sent must be furnished in the Application Form and on the enclosed address slips. 13. The School is not responsible for non-receipt / late receipt of communication due to postal faults/delays. 14. Parents/guardians are requested not to contact any member of the School Staff or the School Employees personally / directly or indirectly for favour of admission. If the Principal is approached through any Staff Member / Employee or any person for favour of admission, the candidature of such candidates will be disqualified. 15. Guidelines for Medical Examination of Boys seeking admission into Sainik School Nalanda Will be same as required for entry into NDA. 17. 7 Appendix D SAINIK SCHOOL NALANDA (BIHAR) FEES AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR CANDIDATES SEEKING ADMISSION Fees 1. School Fees as fixed by the Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence is to be paid in advance and is charged for an academic year ie from 01 Apr to 31 Mar. The students are also required to pay clothing money, pocket money and miscellaneous expenses along with the fees. The School fees and dues are to be paid in a lump sum at the time of admission / in the beginning of the School term. 2. Fees and other charges are liable for an upward revision, approximately 10% per annum, as per the directions of the Boards of Governors, Sainik Schools Society. 3. Present School fees and other charges for the Academic Session are as follows:- Fee Head General/Defence (Rs) SC/ST (Rs) Tuition Fee 50, , Diet Charges 15, , Pocket Money 1, , Security Money (Refundable) 3, , Miscellaneous Expenditure (Clothing, Text Books, 8, , Stationery, Medicines, Tours, Newspapers, etc. Total 78, , Note:- (a) Late 14% per annum would be levied for late payees. (b) The School fees is required to be paid in FULL at the time of admission and the scholarship amount will be adjusted on receipt of the same from Govt of Bihar/Ministry of Defence at the end of the year. (c) In case of any increase of School fees and other charges by the Board of Governors, Sainik Schools Society, parents / guardians are required to pay the difference in amount without fail. Payment of School Fees on or after Admission 4. All payments are to be made in favour of the Principal, Sainik School Nalanda payable at State Bank of India, Rajgir Branch (Code No 3499) Payments of school fees / dues are only to be made in School Accounts Section. Payment of dues to any other School Staff Member for remittance to school funds will be entirely at the risk and responsibility of the person making the payment. Scholarships 5. The Govt of Bihar grants Income based Scholarships for Bihar domicile students every year on the basis of income of parents/guardian.

Defence Scholarship 7. Ministry of Defence awards scholarship to the children of Service Personnel including Exservicemen who are studying in Sainik Schools. The Scholarship once awarded to pupil will continue to be awarded to him throughout his stay in the School provided:- (a) He obtains a minimum of 55% in aggregate in the Annual Examination every year with not less than 45% in each subject. (b) He is not reported upon adversely regarding discipline. (c) He is otherwise eligible for the continuance of scholarship on the basis of rank or income of his parent as the case may be. 8. The amount of Scholarship would be determined on the basis of rank of the personnel. In addition to the above Scholarships, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India has also introduced a monetary grant to share the burden of the parents/guardians and granting an approx amount of Rs 9, (variable) per annum to all the students of Sainik Schools irrespective of parents / guardians income and domicile. 10. An income certificate attested by District Magistrate will have to be produced at the beginning of every year before 15 May for the award/renewal of State Govt/Defence Scholarship. Calculation of Income for the award of Scholarship 11. All allowances of compensatory nature paid in particular localities, such as House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance and Conveyance Allowance shall not be treated as part of income for the purpose of award of Scholarship.
