2 Ordinances for BACHELOR OF COMPUTER APPLICATION (BCA) PROGRAMME 1. Admission 1.1 Admission in BCA/B.Sc. (Software Technology) 1 st semester will be made as per the rules prescribed by the Academic Council of the Integral University(here-in after called University) from time to time. 1.2 The University can take 10% additional admission, in view of the short fall expected in 2 nd year due to failure of students or students leaving the University. 2. Eligibility 2.1 Candidate should have passed 10+2 exam in any stream with at least 55% in aggregate. 2.2 Admission will be based on academic record and performance in admission test. 2.3 The Academic Council shall have power to amend or repeal the eligibility criteria laid down at clause 2.1& 2.2, if required. 3. Attendance 3.1 The attendance of student shall be reckoned from the date of his /her registration in the class. 3.2 Each student is normally required to attend all the lectures, tutorials, lab and studio classes in every subject, and also the curricular and cocurricular activities. However, for each subject a minimum attendance of 75% will be necessary. The Dean of the concerned faculty may condone the absence, on medical reasons, further, up to a maximum 15% limit. 3.3 A student, who fails to achieve the prescribed minimum attendance as per the provisions of article 3.2 above, shall not be allowed to appear at the End Semester examination and, shall be deemed to have been detained. The list of students to be detained shall be forwarded by the Deans/HOD s to V.C. through P.V.C. for necessary action. However under very special circumstances, the Deans of the concerned faculty will review and forward those genuine cases which however fall below reasonable and prescribed attendance level with their recommendation for reconsideration through P.V.C. to V.C. for a final decision.

3 3.4 The Academic Cell will consolidate the attendance record for the lectures and practical s etc. Attendance on account of participation in the prescribed functions of NCC, NSS, Inter University Sports & functions, Educational Tours, Field Work and training shall be credited to aggregate, provided the attendance record, duly countersigned by the lecture Incharge, is sent to the Academic Cell within two weeks of the function/activity, etc. 3.5 If a student is found to be continuously absent from the classes without proper application and sanction for a period of 30 days or his attendance is less than 30%, the lecture incharge shall report in to the Head of the Department/Dean for striking off the name of such a student from rolls. Such a student may, however, apply for readmission within 10 days from the date of issue of the notice of striking off the name. the request may be considered by the Dean for readmission. Such a student shall not be readmitted after the prescribed period. The readmission shall be affected on payment of prescribed readmission fees. 3.6 The statement of attendance of students shall be displayed of the notice board of the faculty twice in each semester in case of semester system an quarterly in each year in case of annual system respectively. The record of the same shall be kept in the academic cell for record purpose. Notices displayed on the notice board shall be deemed to be a proper notification for all concerned, no separate notification to individuals shall be issued. 3.7 Notwithstanding any of the above provisions, under very special circumstances, the Hon ble Vice Chancellor, in consultation with Deans of various Faculties, has the power to amend or condone all or any of the above said clauses or the prescribed percentage in the interested of the academics and the University. 4. Duration 4.1 Total duration of BCA/B.Sc. (Software Technology) course shall be of 3 years, each year comprising two semesters. Each semester shall have normally 90 working days, or as prescribed by the University from time to time. 4.2 A candidate, who has failed in the 1 st and / or 2nd semester twice, shall not be allowed to continue the studies further. However, a candidate who has not appeared or has not been permitted to appear in the examination of 1 st and / or 2 nd semester of the first year may be

4 allowed to appear for one more year on the approval of the Vice- Chancellor. 4.3 The maximum time allowed for completing the BCA/B.Sc. (Software Technology) course shall be 5 (five) years. If a candidate at any stage of his/her study is found unable to complete it within the said time, he/she shall not be allowed to continue the studies further. 5. Curriculum 5.1 The 3 year curriculum has been divided into 6 semesters. Semester 1 st to 6 th shall include lectures, tutorials, practical, seminars and project works seminars as defined in the scheme of instruction and examination issued by the University from time to time. 5.2 The curriculum will be also include such other curricular, cocurricular and extracurricular activities as may be prescribed by the University from time to time. 6. Migration from any other University Admission on migration of a candidate from any other University to this University is ordinarily not permitted. In special case only, as approved by the V.C. on the recommendation of Admission Committee, the migration case may be considered for decision. 7. Examination 7.1 The performance of a student in a semester shall be evaluated through continuous assessment and end semester examination (ESE). The continuous assessment shall be based on mid semester tests, class tests, assignment/tutorials, quizzes/viva-voce and attendance. The marks for continuous assessment (Sessional marks) shall be awarded at the end of the semester. The end semester examination shall be conducted by means of written papers and /or viva- voce, project work, or by means of any combination of these method. 7.2 The distributed of marks for sessional, End semester theory papers, practical and other examination, seminar, Practical training and general proficiency shall be as per the prescribed scheme of examinations. 7.3 The maximum marks of a theory/practical subject shall consist of marks allotted of marks allotted for End semester theory Paper examination and sessional work respectively in the scheme of examination.

5 7.4 The Minimum pass marks in each theory subject (including sessional marks) shall be 40% but 30% marks are essential in each theory paper in the end semester examination. If there is no provision of sessional marks in any theory subject, the minimum pass marks in that theory subject shall be 30% as required in the end semester examinations. 7.5 The minimum pass marks in practical subject (including sessional marks) shall be 50%. 7.6 A candidate, in order to pass, must secure 50% marks in the aggregate of a particular academic year inclusive of both semester of that academic year. 7.7 The minimum pass marks in seminar and practical Training shall be 50%. 8. Promotion 8.1 A Candidate satisfying all the requirements under clause 7 shall be promoted to the next academic year of the program. 8.2 (a) A candidate who fails to satisfy the requirement of clause 7.4, 7.5 and 7.7 in not more than 5 subjects (Theory and/ or practical subjects) in 1 st &2 nd years on the basis of combined result of both semester examination of a particular academic year shall be eligible for provisional promotion to the next academic year of study provided he/ she either satisfies the requirement of clause 7.6 or shall be able to satisfy the requirement of clause 7.4, 7.5 & 7.7 on the basis of securing minimum passing marks in the subjects in which he/ she failed in the carry over examination. (b) If a candidate satisfies the requirement of clauses 7.4 & 7.7 but fails to satisfy the requirement of clause 7.6 he/ she shall be eligible for promotion with carry over. He /she may choose upto a maximum of any five theory papers of that particular year of his/ her choice to pass the examination. 8.3 A Candidate shall not be promoted to third year unless he/ she pass all the examinations of first year. 8.4 All other candidate shall be declared fail and shall be required to repeat the whole academic year after taking re-admission. This facility is, however, subject to the time limits stipulated in clause Carryover System 9.1 (a) A candidate who satisfies the requirements of clause 8.2(a) will be required to appear in those theory papers in which he/ she failed in subsequent examinations of the same semester.

6 (b) A candidate satisfying clause 8.2(b) shall be required to exercise his/ her choice upto a maximum of five theory/ practical s in which he she desires to appear in the examination to fulfill the requirements of clause 7.6 he /she shall inform the University about his her choice within 15 days after the start of new session. 9.2 Marks obtained in a subject in carryover examination shall replace the original marks of the same subject. 9.3 A person who has cleared all back papers will also be eligible for the award of honours and getting place in the merit list provided he/ she secures appropriate marks subject to the provision of Clause 12 and Re-admission in the University A candidate who has failed and has not been promoted to the higher class will have to repeat the year as a regular student. He / she will be allowed for re-admission on payment of prescribe fees provided he/ she satisfies one of the following conditions A candidate is declared failed A candidate did not appear in a semester examination and or he/ she was granted permission for not to appear in the examination of his own request A candidate has been detained by the University and has also been permitted to take re-admission A candidate qualified for carryover system A candidate promoted with carry over subjects and he/ she opted for readmission. 11. Result 11.1 The result of a candidate shall be declared on the basis of combined results of both semesters of the same academic year Result of the final year shall be declared on the basis of working out Grand Total by adding marks of all the year of study in the following ways: 1 st Year 100% of aggregate marks 2 nd Year 100% of aggregate Marks 3 rd Year 100% of aggregate Marks

Award of Division 12.1 The division shall be awarded on the basis of final result If a candidate passes all examination and secures 50% or more marks bur less than 60% marks of the Grand Total, he/ she shall be placed in SECOND DIVISION If a candidate passes all examination and secures 60% or more marks of the Grand Total, he/ she shall be placed in FIRST DIVISION If a candidate passes all examinations in single attempt and secures 75% or more marks in the Grand Total, he/ she shall be placed in FIRST DIVISION WITH HONOURS. 13. Award of Rank On the basis of final result, the ten candidates shall be awarded rank according to their merit provided they pass all the examinations in a single attempt. 14. Grace Marks 14.1 A candidate may be awarded grace marks upto a maximum of total 10 marks, in a maximum of four subjects including theory papers, practical s, seminar, summer training and/ or aggregate marks in each academic year provided he/ she can be declared to have passed the academic year by the award of these marks The grace marks shall not be added to the aggregate marks. 15. Scrutiny 15.1 Scrutiny shall be allowed in only theory papers as per the rules of the University Re-evaluation is not permitted. 16. Unfair means Case of unfair means shall be dealt as per the rules of the University and The U.P. Public examination (Prevention of Unfair means) Act if any in prevalence. 17. Award of Sessional Marks 17.1 Sessional marks for theory subjects and practical shall be awarded as per the provision in the schemes of examinations. The scheme of examination as given in the Course Structure. The break- up of sessional marks shall be as follows:

8 (a) (b) Theory Subjects: (i) Class Test (Two mid-term tests of equal weightage) - 50% (ii) Teacher assessment Practical s: (a) Tutorial / Assignment / Quizzes - 30% (b) Attendance/ Class Participation - 20% (i) Two mid-term viva-voce/ tests - 50% (ii) Teacher Assessment (a) Lab Record - 25% (b) Attendance - 25% 17.2 Make-up test may be held only for those students who could not appear in any one of mid-term class tests due to genuine reasons for which the prior permission from the Head of Department was taken. Make up test shall ordinarily be held about two weeks before the end semester examination. The syllabus for the make-up test shall be the whole syllabus covered by the subject teacher upto that time. 18. Award of Seminar and project Marks 18.1 The Marks of seminar and project lab shall be awarded on the following basis: (i) Write-up/ Report - 50% (ii) Presentation - 50% 18.2 The mark in seminar and Project Lab shall be awarded by a committee consisting of following members constituted by the Head of Concerned department: (i) Concerned Officer Incharge (ii) Head of the Department or his/ her nominee (iii) Senior Faculty Member of the department nominated by the Head of Department. 19. Cancellation of Admission The admission of a student at any stage of study shall be cancelled if:

9 (i) He/ she is not found qualified as per AICTE/ State Government norms and guidelines or the eligibility criteria prescribed by the University. (ii) He/ She is found unable to complete the course within the stipulated time as prescribed in clause Or (iii) He/ She is found involved in creating indiscipline in the University. (iv) He/ She is found involved in any criminal case/ has given any false statement. 20. The Academic Council shall have the power to relax or amend any provision provided in the ordinance in any specific matter/ situation subject to the approval of Executive Council of the University.
