2 About Faculty of Management Studies Faculty of Management Studies (also known as FMS Delhi and The Red Building of Dreams) is one of the oldest and top ranked premier business schools in India which offers a Full-Time MBA program. It was established in 1954 under the aegis of the University of Delhi and is often cited as the best business school in India owing to its great ROI and very high placement statistics. The institute was started at the Delhi School of Economics premises under the then Dean, Prof. A. Das Gupta, of the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE). The department of commerce of the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) now the Delhi Technological University (DTU) was abolished and the Faculty of Management Studies was established. The first sets of professors were trained at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. The institute has since then expanded on the number of management courses available. The Faculty of Management Studies focuses on management education more than just business management. The commitment is thought leadership with a deep understanding of business. The approach to pedagogy combines fieldwork, case studies and instrumented feedback with a strong emphasis on concepts and theory. About Organizers 2

3 About Gaeddu College of Business Studies (GCBS) Gaeddu College of Business Studies (GCBS) is located in Gedu, Chukha is the only premier college under the Royal University of Bhutan offering full time contemporary business and management education in the country. The establishment of the college was first conceived by His Majesty the Fourth King and the Royal Government. In the 85th session of the National Assembly, the Parliament resolved to establish a business college at Gedu in the campus developed by the Tala Hydroelectric Project Authority (THPA) - a joint project between the Government of India and the Royal Government of Bhutan. With the intention of establishing a fully fledged business college at Gedu, the Royal University of Bhutan shifted the faculty of Commerce and students from Sherubtse College to the newly established college. Mr. Lhato Jamba was appointed by the Royal Government as the Project Director to lay the foundation and supervise the modifications of the existing infrastructure into an educational institution. Subsequently he took over as the first director of the college. Currently, the college has 69 teaching and 82 non-teaching staff with more than 1500 students for the academic session Host Organizer 3

4 International Case Conference- ICC2K18 What is a Case Study: In the social sciences and life sciences, a case study is a research method involving an up-close, in-depth, and detailed examination of a subject of study (the case), as well as its related contextual conditions. Case studies can be produced by following a formal research method. These case studies are likely to appear in formal research venues, as journals and professional conferences, rather than popular works. The resulting body of 'case study research' has long had a prominent place in many disciplines and professions, ranging from psychology, anthropology, sociology, and political science to education, clinical science, social work, and administrative science. In doing case study research, the "case" being studied may be an individual, organization, event, or action, existing in a specific time and place. For instance, clinical science has produced both well-known case studies of individuals and also case studies of clinical practices. However, when "case" is used in an abstract sense, as in a claim, a proposition, or an argument, such a case can be the subject of many research methods, not just case study research. Case studies may involve both qualitative and quantitative research methods. The registration fees does not cover Lunch during field visit, However, Breakfast and Dinner shall be the responsibility of the Organizers. No TA/DA shall be paid to any delegate under any circumstances. Affiliating organizations have to bear the travel cost to and from Gedu, Bhutan. The Organizing committee shall be responsible for arranging Visa for the third country participants without any additional cost to the delegates. 30th March, 2017 Publication The cases accepted for publication will be published in the book bearing ISBN. The Cases accepted for presentation only will be given time to improve/ develop the cases based on the feedback in technical sessions. 6 How to reach GCBS, Gedu, Bhutan How to reach, GCBS, Gedu GCBS falls on the main highway connecting Thimphu and Indian Town Jaigaon in the town of Gedu. Jaigaon is the Indian side of the Border whereas Phuentsholing is Bhutan s side separated with a protective grills. Gedu is 46 Kms from Phuentsholing, 121 Kms from Paro (that has an International Airport) and 126 Kms from Capital Thimphu. It is well connected with all these three major towns with adequate number of Buses and Taxi services. Participants can reach Gedu through these town by availing the road transportation system only. However the distance and mode of transport to reach Phuentsholing is mentioned below: By Air: The Paro International Airport is connected by regular flights from Bangkok, Kathmandu, Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bagdogra and Gaya. It is roughly 3 hours away from Gedu and is connected with regular taxi and buses. ( The Bagdogra Airport (near Siliguri) is the nearest Airport of India to reach Gedu; roughly 185 Kms from Phuentsholing from where one can easily get taxi or bus to reach Phuentsholing, Bhutan. By Train: One can easily get down at the nearby railway station connecting Guwahati and North Eastern part of India. From there phuentsholing or Jaigaon (border towns) can be easily reached by taxi or bus; the distance between Phuentsholing and major stations are as follows: 1. Hasimara (HSA)- 18 Kms 2. AlipurDuar Junction (APDJ)- 60 Kms 3. New Alipur Duar (NOQ)- 65 Kms 4. New Cooch Behar (NCB)- 75 Kms 5. New Jalpaiguri (NJP)- 180 Kms 6. Kolkata (HWH or KOAA)- 650 Kms These stations are nicely connected with all the major cities of India through express and superfast trains. Immigration Support: The GCBS shall be providing the Immigration (Visa and Entry permit) support to all the Non Bhutanese participants. The participants should carry their passport along with a photocopy of passport and 6 passport size photos. Indian Delegates may process their Entry permit through voter ID as well. The Third Country Delegates will have to send a duly filled visa form available from the department of Immigration website. Registration - Only limited seats are available.
