2 Program Fee The 2017 Bridgewater-at-Oxford progam fee is $3,630 - $3,930. It includes tuition, room, most meals, registration, theatre tickets, bus trips, airport transfers in England. Additional Costs: airfare & baggage fees, tips, some meals, spending money. Living arrangements Students will live in a single private room and dine in Wadham s famous Renaissance Dining Hall, one of the finest examples of late Renaissance English architecture in Oxford. Courses offered Register for 1 course (3 credits) ENG 490: Jane Austen and the Rise of the Woman Novelist ENG 490: Oxford Fantasists Courses are available for undergraduate or graduate credit. Apply online today: Application deadline: Friday, February 24, 2017 Applications are reviewed and students accepted on a rolling basis. Students are expected to enroll and pay the $300 deposit within two weeks of acceptance.

3 Tentative Itinerary July 6 5:00 PM Orientation Meeting 6:30 PM Party in Cloister Garden to meet tutors, followed by dinner in Hall at 7:15 July 8 Courses begin Group admission to the Bodleian Library. Bring your passport. We will gather outside the Porter s Lodge at Wadham and walk across Broad Street to the Old Bodleian Library Quadrangle and then inside to the Convocation House July 12 Leave Wadham for coach trip to Tintern Abbey and Raglan Castle in Wales, stopping in Monmouth for lunch and returning by 10:00 PM. July 19 Leave Wadham by coach for a day in London and attend a 6:30PM performance of All s Well That Ends Well at Shakespeare s Globe Theatre. Arrive at Globe Theatre no later than 5:45. A free day in London before the theatre. July 23 Party in Cloister Garden and Farewell Dinner in Hall July 24 Departure from Wadham by coach for Heathrow Airprot. Flight departs from Healthrow to Logan Airport in Boston.

4 Annual Summer Program at Wadham College, Oxford University The Bridgewater-at-Oxford program is the oldest study abroad program currently offered at our BSU. Hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students have enjoyed the program. Highlights of the Bridgewater-at-Oxford program include: Living in Wadham College, a Medieval and Renaissance college in the heart of Oxford University. (Wadham is one of the forty colleges making up Oxford University.) Studying English literature and British history and politics with Oxford Faculty Attending Oxford lectures and seeing British theatre Visiting Wales, Bath, and London Living in Oxford and enjoying the English summer The hallmark of the program is that students will experience the intensive tutorial seminar taught exclusively by renowned Oxford faculty. Students will live in a beautiful Wadham college, located in the center of the city, with easy access to the Bodleian Library, one the largest and oldest libraries in the world; Bridgewater-at-Oxford students will have reader s cards and have access to all services of the library. Meal hours at Wadham are as follows: Breakfast: 8:00-8:45 A.M (seven days per week) Dinner: 7:15 P.M. (Monday-Friday) These meals are included in the program fee. Everyone is reminded to be very punctual for meals in Hall.

5 Deportment & Decorum 1. Students are expected to arrive punctually at all classes,meals, bus departures, and other events. 2. Dress throughout the Program is informal. However, tee-shirts and hats cannot be worn during meals, classes, or lectures. 4. All participants in the Bridgewater-at- Oxford group are guests at Wadham College where Fellows, Tutors, Staff, and students reside year-round. When we enter through the Porter s Lodge into the Old Quad, voices and other noises tend to reverberate. Please, therefore, keep noise to a minimum inside the confines of Wadham College, especially during the evening hours. 5. If students expect to be away from Wadham overnight, please inform one of the Directors. The Bridgewater Message Broad outside the Porter s Lodge provides a convenient way to communicate with the Directors. Any stu dents who plan to be away for dinner should infor one of the Directors 36 hours in advance. Students who plan to be away overnight should similarly notify the Directors. 6. Any student who becomes ill should inform one of the Directors immediately. 7. Students tend to enjoy the pub scene in Oxford and the JCR bar at Wadham. It is essential, however, that students accept full responsibility for their actions and any damages they might incur. Drunkenness and other forms of incivility will not be tolerated.

6 Bridgewater at Oxford The following is information which may help to make your stay at Oxford more enjoyable, informative, and hassle-free. It is based on our experience with students over the past several years and seeks to answer some of the more frequently asked questions which you may have prior to your departure and when you arrive. Items to consider bringing with you: 1. Electricity - England has 22Ov/50ac and uses a three-prong plug. Get electrical converters and adapters before coming as they are almost nonexistent in Oxford. Hair dryers often come with dual voltage but still need the adapter. Or you might simply buy an inexpensive hair dryer in Oxford. 2. Miscellaneous items for comfort: toilteries and wash cloths. 3. All dormitory rooms are equipped with wi-fi connections for easy laptop use. 4. Photocopies of all credit cards, passports, prescriptions, health insurance, and other documents. 5. Sports: tennis courts are available so bring your racquet. Bicycle rentals are available just a few blocks from the college (bring your own helmet). 6. Money: There is a ATM machine a block away from Wadham which takes most bank/ credit cards. Check before leaving as to restrictions and fees for your cards. 7. Make sure you have any medication with you, even such things as aspirin, as it is expensive. Secure facilities are available for medicine needing refrigeration.
