6 Foundation + Endorsement Plan Foundation Plan + 1 Additional Math Credit+ 1 Additional Science Credit + Endorsement Requirements Choice of Pathway STEM Business & Industry Arts & Humanities Public Services Multi- Disciplinary Pathways to an Endorsement are individualized. Please view the FISD Course Catalog for recommended pathways and course prerequisites, including grade level allowances and many options.

7 Students can choose from 5 endorsement areas: Multi-Disciplinary Studies (one of the following) 4 advanced courses from other endorsement areas 4 credits in each foundation subject area, including English IV and chemistry and/or physics 4 credits in Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or dual credit selected from English, mathematics, science, social studies, economics, LOTE or ne arts Arts and Humanities (one of the following) 2 levels each in two languages other than English (LOTE) Social Studies 4 levels in the same LOTE American Sign Language (ASL) Courses from one or two areas (music, theater, art, dance) in fine arts English electives not included in Business and Industry Public Service (one of the following) Human Services Health Science Education and Training Law Public Safety Government and Public Administration Corrections and Security

11 Distinguished Level of Achievement -26 Credits A student may earn a distinguished level of achievement by successfully completing: A total of 4 credits in math, which must include Algebra II A total of 4 credits in science The remaining curriculum requirements The curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement A student must earn distinguished level of achievement to be eligible for top 10% automatic admission.

12 Performance Acknowledgements A student may earn a performance acknowledgement: For outstanding performance in a dual credit course in bilingualism and biliteracy on an AP test on the PSAT, the SAT, or the ACT For earning a nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certification or license Performance acknowledgments will be added to the student s diploma and transcript

15 Frequently Asked Questions 1. Do students have to declare an endorsement? Yes, students will declare their preferred endorsement in the spring during scheduling with the counselors. 2. Can students change their endorsement? Yes, student will be able to change their endorsement each spring, with the appropriate guidance from their counselor and with parent permission.

16 Frequently Asked Questions 3. Can students graduate with more than one endorsement? Yes, students who successfully complete the FISD Foundation Plan plus Endorsement (completed a 4 th science and mathematics course) will have completed the courses necessary to achieve the Multidisciplinary and may also pursue additional endorsements. 4. How will students know what courses to take? Counselors will be meeting with students to plan their Personal Graduation Plans (PGP). During these meetings, counselors and students will discuss the order that a student must successfully complete for graduation requirements.
