Classes run from September 2011 to May 2012, with graduation in November 2012. The program calendar graphically displays the general organization of the program timeline. Exact dates vary each year. Program Synopsis Developed to address the evolving needs of today s most progressive employers, the MM-ECM curriculum provides you with a vital grounding in a broad spectrum of business and management disciplines. From accounting to finance, marketing to strategic management, the MM-ECM is uniquely designed to provide you with a transformative learning experience. ECM Preparation Our optional ECM Preparation course is designed to help you bolster your quantitative and economics skills, preparing you for the demanding nature of the MM-ECM curriculum. It is strongly recommended for those without any prior quantitative coursework. Business Immersion The mandatory week-long Business Immersion course runs the week prior to the start of classes and is designed to familiarize you with graduate business teaching and learning methods. Community Business Program From January to May, you will engage, collaborate and network with local businesses on group projects as you apply your classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. Capstone Course This is your opportunity to demonstrate your new skills. In the Capstone Course, you will present your business solutions for live case studies to industry leaders. Study Abroad Opportunities MM-ECM Study Abroad programs take place during the summer months and vary in length from two to eight weeks. Students participating in a Study Abroad program will gain extra credit and graduate with an option in International Business. Career Development Working with the Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre and your career coach, you will develop valuable career-development skills, including resume writing, interview techniques and networking. 02

There are very few places in academia where a software engineer can work with a scientist, philosopher, civil engineer, and an actress to deliver accurate results on a real-world business case. MM-ECM OR MBA. WHAT is THE difference? While the graduate degree you will earn in the ECM is internationally recognized and ideal for opening new doors in your field, it does differ from our MBA program, as well as other top-tier MBA programs, in several significant ways. Admissions Information The UBC Master of Management Early Career Masters program seeks bright, talented, enthusiastic, and creative individuals who are committed to a high level of achievement in all areas of their lives. To select the most suitable candidates, we utilize the following criteria: Academic Achievement Candidates from diverse academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. A 4-year Bachelor s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution is required. The MM-ECM program is not appropriate for candidates who have a major or minor in Business Administration, Commerce or Management. Successful applicants generally have an overall standing of B+ or better in their undergraduate degree. Life Experience, Innovation, Motivation The MM-ECM is considered a pre-experience graduate business degree. Therefore, work experience is not required for admission to the program. However, any work, volunteer, travel and extra-curricular experiences that you have had should be clearly communicated in your resume and application essays. They will help give the admissions committee a sense of your leadership potential, maturity and ambition. GMAT or GRE Score The GMAT or GRE is mandatory for all applicants; your application will not be evaluated before we receive your official GMAT or GRE scores. English Language Proficiency Successful applicants must be able to speak, comprehend, and write fluently in English. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic, IELTS Academic, or a MELAB is required for all candidates whose degrees are from a university outside Canada or the US in which English was not the official language of instruction.
