Accuplacer Implementation Report Submitted by: Randy Brown, Ph.D. Director Office of Institutional Research Gavilan College May 2012

Transcription:

This report shows five years of data at the school, state and global levels. On the first page, a graph illustrates the year-over-year change in the percentage of AP students with scores of 3 or higher, next to a table that provides the overall total exams, total unique students and both the number and percentage of AP students with one or more scores of 3 or higher. On subsequent pages, the report provides subject-specific summary data by year: total exams, total exams by score and mean score. % of Total AP Students 70 67 60 0 40 30 20 0 0 % of Total AP Students with Scores 3+ 6 66 64 64 63 64 6 6 6 62 60 60 6 8 California Global Total AP Students 70 737 74 746 73 Number of Exams,423,494,4,439,49 AP Students with Scores 3+ 469 40 438 488 48 % of Total AP Students with Scores 3+ 66. 6. 8. 6.4 66.3 California Total AP Students 34,227 372,02 396,24 46,78 422,049 Number of Exams 668,479 707,09 749,392 79,238 796,642 AP Students with Scores 3+ 227,80 237,063 247,846 29,64 268,274 % of Total AP Students with Scores 3+ 64.3 63.6 62. 62.3 63.6 Global Total AP Students 2,32,026 2,497,64 2,62,39 2,762,293 2,84,67 Number of Exams 4,99,44 4,6,044 4,74,66,006,273,03,66 AP Students with Scores 3+,442,36,,264,83,,666,078,726,227 % of Total AP Students with Scores 3+ 6.3 60.7 60.3 60.3 6.3 Success on an AP Exam is defined as an exam score of 3 or higher, which represents the score point that research finds predictive of college success and college graduation. These findings have held consistent across the decades. One example of such a study comes from the National Center for Educational Accountability, which found that an AP Exam score, and a score of 3 or higher in particular, is a strong predictor of a student s ability to persist in college and earn a bachelor s degree. The data in this report differs from other College Board reports, such as The AP Cohort Data Report, which tracks exams taken by seniors throughout their time in high school (cohort-based) and includes public school data only.
