How do I use it? Syllabus Builder: Teaching with a Predeveloped/College Master Course (CeL) 1. Visit my.fscj.edu and click on the Faculty tab to access the Online Syllabus Builder. 2. Next, Click on Create New Syllabus.

3. If you are teaching with a College Master, Option 3- Center for elearning Syllabi is required. Option 3: Center for elearning Syllabi (REQUIRED for online faculty teaching with a College Master) Although the Blue Wave format is listed as recommended, it is not the best choice for faculty teaching online with a College Master. We ask that you use the Center for elearning Syllabi (Option 3), simply because it is easier. The format provided in this option is aligned with course content and provides more details for your students. By initially providing your students with more information via the syllabus, you are able to minimize questions and confusion; this is always a huge benefit for those in distance learning. Download and Upload Instructions: Use the dropdown menu to locate the appropriate course template for your course and download it to your computer. Note: Faculty teaching with Open Educational Resources (an OER course) have been individually notified. Please use the syllabus template labelled with OER for your specific course. Locate your downloaded template on your computer and edit it to suit your needs (including important dates with cut-off times and due dates). Be sure to save the changes made to your syllabus template. Return to the elearning Syllabi page to upload your edited syllabus. Step 1: Using the dropdown menu, select the appropriate term and course. Step 2: Then, click the Choose File button to locate your file. Step 3: Once you have located and selected the syllabus file from your computer, click the Upload Syllabus button. When you upload a syllabus, it is automatically submitted to your dean for review.

After uploading your document, you will need to publish your syllabus before it can be viewed by your students. Simply check the box and click Save & Finish to finalize the process. Don t forget to Save & Finish to publish your syllabus. 4. Last required step for all faculty: copy the web link for your syllabus into your course. After you have completed and published your syllabus - go to Manage Your Syllabi and click on Copy Link.

Go into your Blackboard course and click on the Syllabus button in navigation. Go to the View and Download Syllabus title line and click its downward facing arrow. This will show you a dropdown menu. Select Edit.

A window will open. Paste the syllabus link you copied from Manage Your Syllabi directly into the URL box under Web Link Information and click Submit. Students will now be able to access the syllabus in the course by clicking on the View and Download Syllabus. 5. If you need to change your syllabus after it is uploaded The revision process changes based on which option you used. If you uploaded your syllabus using: 1. Blue Wave: You can go into Manage Your Syllabi and choose Edit to make your changes. 2. Self-Developed or Center for elearning: You go into Manage Your Syllabi, choose Delete or Edit and it gives you the chance to upload a new version. You will make your changes on your own computer using your own copy and simply replace the one in the

Syllabus Builder. If you have placed the syllabus into your course using the Copy Link function, the link will automatically update with the new version. Important! Because some students will print out the syllabus at the start of the term, please notify your students if you make changes. Why are we doing this? Maintaining a collegewide process for reviewing all syllabi to ensure that they meet consistent standards is required by the College and the State of Florida. For more information, click on the following link for the College s official Administrative Procedure Manual regarding these standards. If you need help Please reach out to our Resource Center at FSCJOnline@fscj.edu / 904.997.2628. Our staff are well-versed in walking you through the process.
