Dear Parents and Carers, Thank you very much to the Longleaze School Association for hosting the Royal themed tea party last Friday. The weather couldn t have been better and everybody who attended really enjoyed the refreshments and activities. It certainly got everyone into the spirit for the Royal Wedding the next day. I would like to congratulate the Y2 and Y6 pupils who have worked so hard to complete their SAT s this term. They have demonstrated our Longleaze Learning Powers brilliantly. In fact, we are very proud of all the children who continue to show good progress in their learning across the school. It is unbelievable that we are at the end of Term 5. As always, I am very grateful for all the continued support from the fantastic Longleaze school community. All the contributions made by staff, parents and carers, pupils and governors who help to make our school such a special place. Term 6 will be very busy, please remember to check the diary dates for school events and transition opportunities as we look towards the next academic year. Enjoy the Spring Bank Holiday with your families. Kind regards, Laura Oakes Head Teacher The Oriks On Tuesday 22 nd May Rowan, Ash and Elm class took part in The Oricks award ceremony to celebrate the fantastic animation movies that they had created. The children and their families were invited to dress up in their glad rags and enjoy the opportunity to see their hard work on the big screen. In addition to the movies, the children had also created stop-motion trailers and their plasticine models were on display. Thanks to all the parents, carers and families who joined us and well done to the children and future movie makers! Here is what they thought: I liked seeing other people s movies and hearing the audience s reaction. We also now know what we would do differently next time. Emily It was great to see the funny moments in everybody else s movies. Samuel We all got an award and there was unlimited popcorn! It was lots of fun. Morgan I liked looking at all the models; some of them were really detailed and carefully designed. Jamie
The Governing Body of Longleaze Primary School is looking to appoint Co-opted Governors. More information about the School can be found at our website address. Governors play an important part in School life and this is an opportunity for someone from the community to become involved with our school. Governors are expected to come into School on a regular basis and spend time with staff and pupils and therefore on occasions need to be available during the school day as well as evenings. It is also recognised that effective Governors can have a positive impact on both the School and local Community. The Governing Body meets six times a year and governors will serve on one of two committees. At this time the Governing Body is seeking someone who is not a parent; with particular skills in are education on experience of human resources but other skills are always welcome to complement those already involved. There is no need for specific educational knowledge or background but the ability to offer a strategic view would be an advantage. Full training and support will be offered. Art Exhibition On Thursday 28 th June, we will be holding an art exhibition to celebrate the fantastic artwork being created at Longleaze. This will take place in the school hall from 3.10 4.30pm and, as well as getting the chance to see a range of art work from across the school, there will be the opportunity to buy your child s framed copy of artwork. The children have been working hard to create something special and the cost will be 10 for each masterpiece. For those parents wishing to buy more than one picture we will offer two for 18 and three for 24. The money raised from the sale of the pictures will go back into the art curriculum and be used to buy much needed resources, such as sketching pencils, clay and collage materials. We hope to see you there!
