Department of Economics Vision To become a school of Economics education producing high quality Economics graduates with masterly knowledge and professional skills. Building confidence among the students for independently undertaking responsibilities of organizational success with proven ability BS Economics Bachelor of Science in Economics BS Economics & Finance Bachelor of Science in Economics & Finance MSc Economics Master of Science in Economics Sarhad University established an institute of quality education in the field of Economics. The university have resources, manpower and potential for establishing this Department. The courses were approved first time from the Board of Studies on September 13, 2014 and later on from the Board of Faculty on January 03, 2015. As a part of the Faculty of management sciences, the M.Sc in Economics and M. Phil (Econometrics) were specified to the Department of Economics from the Department of Business Administration. The Department also approved BS Economics and Finance from the Board of Studies on March 12, 2016. The department enrolled students for the first time in B.S Economics (4-Years Program) and M.Phil (2-Years Program) in the fall semester 2014 under the supervision of well qualified, Experienced and Foreign Qualified Ph.D Faculty. Recently 3 PhD and faculty members are working in the Department of Economics. The Department provides academically sound courses that promote knowledge of economic concepts, issues, methods, theories and applications. It is committed to produce outstanding Economists in theoretical and applied Economics for catering to the need of National and International Organizations. Not only that the Department provides an excellent Library and computer facilities for the students. 136

BS Economics Bachelor of Science in Economics 4 Years 8 Semesters Number Of Courses Credit Hours Program Code 43 132 121 Program Objectives: The BS Economics program at Sarhad University provides academically sound courses that promote knowledge of economic concepts, issues, methods, theories and applications. The Department is committed to excellent teaching, research and training in Economics education. It is committed to produce outstanding Economists in theoretical and applied Economics for catering to the need of National and International Organizations. Program Outcomes: After acquiring Economics education, students will be able to apply Economic theories, mathematics, management and finance and marketing fundamentals to solve complex business problems methods. Graduate program is basically envisioned for training in the method and techniques of research and in the art and science of economics education. After completion of graduate program, students will be able to conduct research on industry and agriculture, Economic policies, Education and man power, Economics of energy, resource conservation, environmental studies etc. A graduate will recognize the importance of, and pursue lifelong learning in the broader context of innovation and development. After successful completion of this program graduates can serve their services in different departments like Planning and Development, Bureau of Statistics, Finance Division, State Bank of Pakistan etc. He/ she can work as a Monitoring and Evaluation officer in both government and Non-government organizations. Eligibility Criteria: Intermediate with at least 45% Marks or A-Levels (22 Points) with Equivalency Certificate from IBCC Islamabad or an equivalent certificate from a recognized institution are eligible to apply.
