What is Finance? Finance is a field that deals with the study of investments. It includes the dynamics of assets and liabilities over time under conditions of different degrees of uncertainty and risk. Finance can also be defined as the science of money management. Finance aims to price assets based on their risk level and their expected rate of return. QFIN Major Selection Requirements CGA 3.0 or above B or above in MATH1012/1013/1020/1023 C+ or above in LANG 1002 & 1003 Ranking Criteria Holistic assessment based on CGA, selected course performance, CV profile, interview performance, personal statement (If you take MATH 1003, you have to get at least A in MATH 1003 and get at least B in MATH 1014)

Curriculum Changes We regularly review and modify our QFIN curriculum to prepare our students to new market environment and technology advancement Right now Fintech is a priority development area Students will be able take advantage of new courses related to Big Data and Fintech For example, we now have FINA 4929K Applications of New Technologies in Finance Other departments such as Dept of Information Systems and Dept of Computer Science and Engineering are also developing Fintech related courses. QFIN students will be able to take some of these courses in the near future.

Support for Acquiring Professional Qualifications QFIN program is comprehensive and offers many elective courses for students to develop specialties in specific areas of finance. As such, our graduates usually do well in the examinations for professional qualifications such as Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Professional Risk Manager (PRM) Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), approximately 3 4 scholarships per year only for FINA and QFIN final year students
