Mr Dyke Deputy Head

Leventhorpe Sixth Form We would like as many of our Year 11s to stay as possible However, we have to give good advice and guidance Spending a year or two on the wrong course would be no good You need to have gained the Level 2 threshold five or more C+ GCSEs, Maths and English to grade 5 Level 3 A Levels now two year qualifications, exam heavy Level 3 BTEC qualification, greater proportion of coursework

The Leventhorpe Sixth Form Curriculum Based around four option blocks, where students choose three options (leaving the last for independent study) A Levels are now linear all the exams happen at the end of the second year Universities and employers want the best three grades AS levels will not normally be taken Apply by 6 th December so that we can timetable for your choices

Simple Example of Blocks Block A period 1 Block B period 2 Block C period 3 Block D period 4 Biology Chemistry Physics Maths English Lit English Lit Maths History History Politics Geography Philosophy Chemistry Physics Maths English Lit History Philosophy English Lit Politics Maths Physics Geography - Maths

Entry Requirements We have moved away from average points score Each subject has specific entry requirements GCSE B in Geography to take A Level Geography Five C or better grades to do A Level Business Studies An applicant has to have the grades to fill up three option blocks as we only offer full-time sixth form education

Good Combinations Students do need to specialise somewhat in sixth form Facilitating A Levels are versatile: Biology, Chemistry, Physics English Literature Mathematics History, Geography French, Spanish

Enrichments English or Maths GCSE retake (must if level 3, should if level 4) Further Mathematics level 8 or better Core Mathematics Financial Literacy Extended project Business Studies A Level (if you did AS in year 11)
