INFORMATION Crossroads Christian School Homeschool Mailing Address: 2380 Fullerton Avenue Corona, CA 92881 Campus Office: 951-278-3199 Website: www.crossroadsschool.org Homeschool Administrator: Faith Baney Email: fbaney@crossroadsschool.org Raising History Makers and World Changers for the Glory of God Introduction CCS Homeschool is a ministry of Crossroads Christian Church and a program of Crossroads Christian Schools in Corona California. CCS Homeschool offers off-site and on-site services for private, Christian homeschooling families, combining the blessings of home education and the benefits of campus education. We follow the Crossroads model for being passionately committed to Christ, His Cause and His Community. Christ: Leading children to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through Christ-centered programs specifically designed for home schooling families. Cause: Partnership with parents in their home education journey by providing mentorship and accountability in curriculum, record keeping, planning and home school management. Community: Regularly scheduled activities, events, and small groups build community. PARENT RESPONSILITIES Our CCS Homeschool parents are responsible to diligently and consistently teach their children at home. The parent is responsible for the actual daily education of the child in their core subjects; CCS Homeschool is a support for the parents. Parents must provide supervision during normal school hours, for a minimum of 3 hours each day. In addition, the parent s responsibility to CCS Homeschool is to keep an honest record of attendance as well as pay fees, as detailed in the Financial Responsibilities. The attendance records, lesson plans, and progress reports must be mailed to the school or dropped off at our campus on the last day of each quarter. Late paperwork will be subject to additional fees. CCS Homeschool will provide forms for you; please do not use any other forms.

COMPLYING WITH THE LAW Our state law requires that children between the ages of 6-18 must be enrolled in school. California does not have a specific homeschool law; California is one of the 12 states in which homeschools operate as private in-home schools. CCS Homeschool students are filed under the Crossroads private school affidavit, along with our Crossroads traditional school students. HOME SCHOOL LEGAL DEFENSE ASSOCIAITON [H.S.L.D.A.] Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) is an association of attorneys who defend the home schooling rights of members nationwide. One of the most comforting areas of support any homeschool family can have is the assurance of knowing you have help with legal matters that may arise at any time. We highly encourage but do not require membership with HSLDA. You can apply online at http://www.hslda.org. CHRISTIAN HOME EDUCATIONS ASSOCIATION [C.H.E.A.] Since 1982 CHEA has been California s primary advocate for private home schoolers, offering events which connect families with vendors, authors, and support networks. CCS Homeschool encourages each of our families to attend the annual CHEA Convention of Southern California. CURRICULUM Each family is responsible for purchasing curriculum for their students. We provide free curriculum counseling to our members, as well as access to used curriculum sales. CCS Homeschool students are expected to learn Bible, Reading, Spelling, Writing, Grammar, Arithmetic, Geography, Science, Health, Electives, Physical Education and History. K-8 Families have flexibility in the resources you choose and the amount of content you cover each year. If you decide to do one quarter of history and three quarters of science or all of your science first semester and all of your history second semester, that is you decision as long as you pace through and complete your curriculum each year. DAYS REQUIRED CCS Homeschool requires school age students to participate in 170-185 educational school days per academic year. Field Trips, Co-Op, Chapels & Assemblies, all count as educational school activities. CCS Homeschool follows the same academic starting and ending dates as our sister schools running August May.

STUDENT FILES Upon your signed approval, CCS Homeschool will request the permanent, or cumulative, file from your student s former school. All files are kept locked and viewed only by staff. Files will not be shared with others without your permission. Files contain report cards, attendance records, logs, and notes from teacher and administrators. OPERATING YOUR CLASS KEEPING STUDENT RECORDS We require that you keep a record of daily attendance. Though your student should never be absent aside from illness or vacation, you do need to keep a record of educational activities. CCS Homeschool provides printable, online forms for your use. Records need to be submitted quarterly to us; a list of submission dates will be provided for you on our school calendar. All records must be completed clearly, handwritten in ink or typed. It is very important to keep accurate records of the education your students are receiving. We recommend you keep an additional back up copy of all records. CCS Homeschool does not provide photocopies of your records. CCS Homeschool is held responsible by law to keep a current record of attendance for each of our students. Parents must submit their student s attendance records within the required submission dates, to avoid penalty fees. Late submissions are subject to a $20.00 per week, per student. Please note: If you take a week or more of vacation time off school, do not count that time period for school attendance. If your student is ill, and thus absent from campus classes, do not count that for school attendance. GRADING CCS Homeschool requires quarterly progress reports to be submitted for all students 1 st - 8 th grades. Parents are responsible for keeping accurate grades for each subject. Students in grades 7 th - 8 th must submit letter grades, as well as percentage received for each grade. TESTING It is important in your day-to-day schooling to evaluate your students understanding and progress. Testing can be verbal, written, or even simple discussion. Standardized testing is currently optional and available on campus, annually, for grades 2 nd and up. The various options of testing will be published, explained, and coordinated as available. Costs will vary. Policies subject to change.

HIGH SCHOOL CCS Homeschool Students in grades 9-12 require special, additional courses and records in preparation for graduation. Parents of 9-12 students have different responsibilities and requirements than our K-8 families. CCS Homeschool offers two (2) different diploma options: General CCS/CCS Homeschool Diploma English Math Social Studies Science Foreign Language PE Elective and Bible 4 years *Algebra I *Other *US History/Geog *World History/Geog *Gov/Econ 2 years *Biology *Physical 1 year 2 years Honors CCS/CCS Homeschool Diploma English Math Social Studies Science Foreign Language PE Electives and Bible 4 years *Algebra I, II *Geometry *US History/Geog *World History/Geog *Gov/Econ *Biology, Chemistry *Physical with lab 2 years same language 4 years Curriculum Choices Will Be Limited and must be approved by CCSH Administration.

SMALL GROUP AND MEETINGS CCS Homeschool requires parents to attend on ALL-Level Parent Meeting annually. This annual meeting is our Welcome Back to School Night where families meet our staff, receive school t-shirts, sign up for field trips, small groups and learn more about our year ahead. Families are also subject to Curriculum Verification with us. Dates and details will be sent out via email. CCS Homeschool offers optional participation in small group meetings for support and encouragement; we know that successful homeschoolers are not schooling alone. We highly encourage you to get connected with a small group. Information on small groups will be made available via email. COMMUNICATION Our monthly e-newsletter, the Beacon is our primary means of communicating with our members. Please read it. Much information is included in this publication that you will receive no other way; meeting announcements, legal updates, information regarding school activities and requirements, school policy changes. Also incorporated are other resources, such as field trips and special events. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES REGISTRATION Open registration for new members will always be during the Spring & Summer months each year. Early-bird discount dates for returning members will be posted. Beginning September 1, you must contact us via email to determine any special arrangements for late registration. TUITION All tuition is non-refundable after 24 hours from submission and there will be no proration of fees for late registrants or early withdrawals. Current pricing will be posted on our websites. LATE FEES Failure to submit your quarterly records and paperwork during the designated dates, will result in late fees of $20.00 per week, per student. OTHER FEES Participation is optional and separate fees may be required for Yearbooks, ID Cards, School Portraits, Sports Programs, Field Trips, Classes, Activities and Events. SCHOOL OFFICES It is our joy to serve families. We prefer that email is the first means of communication. For phone calls and drop in s, our CCS Homeschool office hours are 2:30 pm 5:30 pm on Tuesday and Thursdays. Our Crossroads Elementary office is open 6am 6pm, Monday Friday. Our Crossroads Middle School/High School offices are open 8am 3pm, Monday Friday.

SCHOOL IDENTITY ITEMS Wednesday School students are required to wear a uniform on campus. School items such as t-shirts, school portraits, student ID cards and a yearbook add to the spirit and enthusiasm of our school. Watch your email for availability of each of these. BEHAVIOR AND SUPERVISION Homeschooling is often under the scrutiny of others, and our behavior should be above reproach. Parents and students should conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner during all events, activities, classes, field trips and meetings. Parent supervision is required at all school functions unless otherwise noted. FIELD TRIPS/SPORTS/ACTIVITIES CCS Homeschool offers various field trip options throughout the year and families are encouraged, but not required to attend. Field trips may be free or involve a fee. These field trips are geared to meet the general needs of home school families; if payment is required in advance, families will be notified of dates and details. NO field trip refunds are given under any circumstances. If you wish to plan a field trip and you want to invite others to participate, please let us know privately first and we will be happy to publicize your trip. Crossroads Elementary School K-5 th Intramural Sports Clinics are open to our K-5 th grade home schooling families to participate. Fees range from $35 - $65 per clinic. Sport clinic sessions are offered seasonally and information is published in our e-newsletter. All clinics are led by Crossroads staff and hosted on the Crossroads sports field. Crossroads 6 th 8 th grade Middle School sports are open to all students, at an additional fee. Students are subject to try-outs with our traditional school students. Crossroads Middle School dances, graduation, and campus events are open to all students as well. If you are a CCS Homeschool parent who would be interested in forming a specific group for sports, music or art activities of any grade group, please contact us to discuss more details.

WITHDRAWING BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR If you enroll your student in another school, please be sure to notify us immediately. **If record keeping is delinquent and you withdraw or become excused by the school, the official enrollment dates listed in the cumulative files will reflect only the period of time for which we have received records. **If you leave the school owing money, there will be a notice of funds owed put in your student s file. **If you are withdrawing and enrolling in another school, that school will request your student s cumulative file from us.
