Supporting your child at home Interact with her daily and ask her about her day. Let her express herself and ask her opinions about things she sees and feels. Cultivate a good reading habit for your child: Go through her Reading Sheet together. Read aloud books to and with her. Make frequent visits to the NLB for books on the topics she is learning.
Supporting your child at home Help her with her homework (which should be written in her handbook). Help her in learning her spelling. Spelling strategy: look, copy, cover, spell, check Check her bag and handbook every day. Important announcements e.g. homework, test dates and things to bring will be written in there. Emphasize the importance of neat handwriting (e.g. 1 l, open 4 and 9, 9 and a, 0 and 6, b and d, s and 5 and reversal) and good listening skills.
Supporting your child at home Monitor her hygiene, grooming habits and health. Help her develop social skills to interact with different people and thinking skills to solve problems she might face in school. Please read and send back forms promptly.
