International Baccalaureate Mission The International Baccalaureate Program aims to develop inquiring knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the International Baccalaureate Organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment. These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Diploma Requirements Core Elements Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Extended Essay (EE) Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) Higher Level (HL) 240 hours Minimum of 3, Maximum of 4 courses Standard Level (SL) 150 hours Minimum of 2, Maximum of 3 courses

The Core Requirements Extended essay has a prescribed limit of 4,000 words offers the opportunity to investigate a topic of individual interest familiarizes students with the independent research and writing skills expected at university. Due first semester, senior year

Theory of Knowledge (TOK) The interdisciplinary TOK course is designed to provide coherence by: exploring the nature of knowledge across disciplines encouraging an appreciation of other cultural perspectives. Includes a major essay, class presentations and selfevaluation Two Parts Second Semester Junior Year First Semester Senior Year

Creativity, action, service (CAS) (150 hrs) encourages students to be involved in artistic pursuits, sports and community service work fosters students awareness and appreciation of life outside the academic arena. Due by January 30th, senior year Provincial Equivalents for Fine Arts and Physical Education Credits 100 hours of Creativity with sufficient variety is the equivalent of 2 Provincial Fine Arts Credits. 100 hours of Action, with sufficient variety, is the equivalent of 2 Provincial Physical Education Credits.

Fee structure The school is charged an annual fee to remain a certified IB World School. As well, there is a charge for each exam taken. These charges vary each year, depending on exchange rates and the rates charged by IBO.
