APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION Founded by the Jesuits in 1870, Canisius is one of 28 colleges and universities in the United States that shares the Jesuit philosophy of excellence in education. Other prestigious Jesuit schools include Boston College, Georgetown and Fordham universities. Canisius is an independent, co-educational university offering more than 1,000 courses in 145 distinct majors, minors and special programs through three academic divisions. Canisius is accredited by numerous national organizations, including the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (Business Administration Program), the American Chemical Society, the Council for Education of the Deaf (Deaf Education Program), the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (Athletic Training), and the North American Society of Sport Management (Sport Administration Program). These accreditations serve as a testimonial to the numerous Canisius students who go on to become leaders in their professions and their communities. HOW TO APPLY Complete the following application form and answer all questions completely. Your name on this application must match that displayed on your passport. Submit all official transcripts, matriculation certificates, mark sheets, and/or diplomas for all secondary and post secondary schools attended. These documents MUST be original or certified true copies stamped and signed by the issuing school official and carry the official seal of that institution. Documents not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation. The submission of falsified documents is considered grounds for declining your application. TOEFL testing is not required of students participating in an approved exchange program between Canisius and a partner school. Documentation of financial support for the duration of your study abroad program is required for issuance of a visa eligibility form (I-20). Enclose original financial statements and an accompanying English translation (if necessary) demonstrating funding available for the period of study. Additionally, the attached Sources of Financial Support form must be completed by you and your sponsor. WHEN TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION Submit your application by May 1 for the fall term (begins in August), and by November 1 for the spring term (begins in January). This will allow sufficient time for the visa process. APPLICATION CHECK LIST DID YOU: Sign the application form. Arrange to have all transcripts, matriculation certificates, mark sheets, and/or diplomas with certified English translations sent to Canisius. Although not required, if you have taken TOEFL, please send results with application. Complete the international exchange sources of financial support and attach appropriate supporting documentation.
