STUDENT DRAFT SCHEDULE Year GCSE s Summer 07 This document will tell you where you should be during your GCSEs in sessions, in an exam or at home! Please read it and make sure that you understand where you should be and when. If you have any questions, ask your Form Tutor. Morning exams start at 9:0am and afternoon exams start at :00pm. All exams have a revision session before them either immediately before (morning exams) or a little time before (afternoon exams.) After School revision for Science may run until.0pm. If you are ever late for an exam, then get to school as quickly as you can! You will probably still be able to do the exam. If you are too ill to do an exam, you must sit the exam then after the exam go to the doctor to ask for a medical certificate. The School can then ask the exam board for special consideration. If the doctor refuses, contact the school on 090 666. From th you will have the choice of PE or private study in MA0 during PE sessions, you will need to bring revision materials. From Monday th, morning Form/Assembly time will run from 8:0am 8:0am to allow revision sessions to start at 8:0am. Revision sessions are compulsory! They will help you to achieve the best possible grade. These details will be displayed. In your Tutor Rooms. Mr Roleston s office. In the Foyer on Year Board. Mr Williams office will be in school full-time until Tuesday th. In any sessions where you no longer have an exam, you will be expected to bring revision with you. Some revision sessions may clash. who have a clash must attend the revision session for their next exam. Top Ten Revision Tips. Short bursts of revision (0 60 minutes) are most effective. Your concentration lapses after about an hour and you need to take a short break (-0 minutes).. Find a quiet place to revise - your bedroom, school, the library - and refuse to be interrupted or distracted.. Make sure you don't just revise the subjects and topics you like. Work on your weaker ones as well. Use the information from your teacher.. Make your own revision notes because you will remember what you have written down more easily. Stick key notes to cupboards or doors so you see them every day.. Rewrite the key points of your revision notes; read them out loud to yourself. We remember more than twice as much of what we say aloud than of what we merely read. Test yourself or get someone else to test you. 6. Use different techniques. Make your own learning maps, use post-it notes to write key words on, create flash cards. Record your notes and listen to them on your phone or tablet. Ask friends and family to test you. Use highlighter pens to mark important points. Chant or make up a rap song. 7. Practise on past exam papers or revision tests available on the web. Initially do one section at a time and progress to doing an entire paper against the clock. 8. You will need help at some stage, ask parents, older brothers and sisters, teachers or friends. Ask teachers to clarify points you are unsure and ask them how to revise. Use websites specifically designed for revision. 9. Try not to get stressed out! Eat properly and get lots of sleep! 0. Believe in yourself and be positive. If you think you can succeed you will; if you convince yourself that you will fail, that's what will probably happen.
