NOTE ON THE CII-IGBC STUDENT CHAPTER Department of Civil Engineering GITAM Institute of Technology GITAM (deemed to be University) Visakhapatnam About Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was formed in the year 2001. The vision of the council is, "To enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025". The council offers a wide array of services, which include developing new green building rating programmes, certification services and green building training programmes. The council also organises Green Building Congress, its annual flagship event on green buildings. About the CII-IGBC Student Chapter CII-IGBC Student chapter, GIT, GITAM (deemed to be university) was formed on 13 th February 2015 under the mentorship of Prof. K.V. Ramesh. Prof Y.S. Achievements of the Student Chapter Won the Best IGBC Student Chapter National Award at the Green Building Congress 2015, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Ms. E. Shreya, former president of the chapter (2015-16), is presently the Project Director, Smart Village Movement, Arunachal Pradesh, India. She previously worked as the Director Smart Village Project, Mori, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh. Ms. Shreya was the Smart Village Fellow UC Berkeley and the winner of the UC Berkeley Smart Cities Competition and the driving force behind the Smart Villages initiative. Mr. D. Ravi Teja, former treasure of the chapter (2015-16) was also selected as the Smart Village Fellow UC Berkeley. Mr. D. Rajesh was one of United States - Green Building Council (USGBC) Community Green Scholars and won a scholarship worth $ 500 with eligibility to write LEED green associates worth $ 250.
