The Academic Council at its meeting held on 28-05-97 approved the following resolution adopted by the Faculty of Oriental Studies. 1. Recognition be accorded to the Sahityacharya tide examination of the Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha as equivalent to Part II and Part III Hindi of BA Degree. 2. Sahityacharya title holders be exempted from appearing for Part II and III Hindi of the BA degree examination. 3. The Sahityacharya title holders be allowed to get BA degree by passing Part I English alone as is done by the Calicut University. 4. BA / B.Sc / B.Com. degree holders who have passed the Sahityacharya title of Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha be allowed to appear for MA course in Hindi. (III) U.O. No. AcC 3/1779/97 dt; 10-07-1998 The Academic Council at its meeting held on 28 th May 1998 has approved the following recommendations of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and resolved as follows, in supersession of the earlier decision with regard to Sahityacharya title holders. 1) The facility given to the candidates who have passed SSLC, Sahityacharya examination of Kerala Hindi Pracharsabha, Thiruvananthapuram and Part I English of Pre-degree of Kerala University to appear for BA degree in Hindi of this University be cancelled forthwith. 2) Recognition be accorded to Sahityacharya title examination of Kerala Hindi pracharsabha as equivalent to Part II and Part III Hindi of BA degree examination. 3) Sahityacharya title holders be exempted from appearing for Part II and III of Hindi of BA degree examination 4) Sahityacharya title holders be awarded BA degree in Hindi after passing Part I English of BA degree examination subject to the following conditions. a) They should possess prescribed basic qualification as per the regulations for registration for BA degree examination b) They should get themselves registered for Part I English of BA degrees examination as private candidates in accordance with the Private Registration rules of the University. c) They should have passed (i) the SSLC examination before a period of at least five years with eligibility for admission to a course of study in the University and (ii) The Pre-degree examination before a period of at least three years prior to appearing for second year examination of Part I English of the BA degree examination. 5) BA/B.Sc/B.Com. degree holders who have passed the Sahityacharya title of Kerala Hindi pracharsabha be allowed to appear for MA course in Hindi. Orders are issued accordingly.

AcC3/1776/97 dt; 06-03-1999 The Academic Council at its meeting held on 28-05-1998 made a revised set of rules, in super session of the earlier decisions regarding the award of degrees to those who passed Sahityacharya of Kerala Hindi Pracharsabha (Communicated vide J.O. Ac.C3/1776/97 dt. 10-07-1998. However several candidates who had passed SSLC, Sahityacharya and Part I Pre-degree and Part I of BA/ completed BA/ B.Sc./ B.Com before 28-05-1998 requested that they may be allowed to go for higher studies as pr provisions existed prior to 28-05-1998. After ascertaining the views of the Chairman, Board of Studies in Hindi and the Dean, Faculty of Oriental Studies, sanction has been accorded by the Vice-chancellor to the candidates who have passed the Sahithyacharya s of the Kerala Hindi Pracharsabha, Part I Pre-degree Part I of BA completed BA/ B.Sc./ B.Com before 28-05-1998 being granted permission to go for higher studies as per rules existed prior to 28-05-1998, subject to ratification by the Academic Council.
