Multiple sources of data help our Building Level Teams focus on the creation of building level goals. The Effective Schools Survey process enables BLT s to collect vital information concerning their school s culture that correlates with student achievement. BLT s also examined grades 3-8 assessment data, trends in Regent s exam performance, item analysis of select Regent s exams and New York State report card information as goals are formulated.

Middle School BLT Goals for 2008-2009 Improve academic achievement and performance. Provide students with a safe, nurturing and positive school climate.

Goal #1 - Improve student academic achievement and performance. Strategies Analyze and use data to enhance classroom instruction, identify individual students needs, and increase student performance. Increase our understanding of current practice and research best practices of a middle school writing program. Maximize the effectiveness of AIS instruction. Develop programs/strategies that target at-risk students to prevent retention, promote a connectedness to school, and improve academic performance.

Goal #2 - Provide students with a safe, nurturing and positive school climate. Strategies Promote character traits that encourage positive relationships between students, faculty, staff and the community. Research and develop programs specific to the four character traits students should model and internalize.

Goal #2-Enhance the relationship between Greenville High School and the community by improved communication. Strategies Continue to expand communication among faculty, administration, parents and community.

Goal #3- Provide and maintain high quality services in the area of computer technology and data information Strategies Promote the use of State grade 3-8 assessment data for data-driven instruction.

Goal #4-Provide students with a safe, positive, and nurturing school climate. Strategies Continue to promote positive character education.
