Getting to Know Jane Lowry, 4-H Assistant How long were you in 4-H? I was a ten year 4-H member here in Gibson County. My last year of 4-H was 1976. I was in the Owensville Boys & Girls Club, Howard Lowry was my leader in that club and I was also in the Bethlehem Girls Club and Olive Ward was the leader of that club. Those two clubs are now combined and my husband and son, Gordon and Andy, are now the leaders. What is your favorite 4-H memory? Grand Champion in Foods two years and showing Beef. What is your favorite food? Beef Manhattan at the R s Café in Fort Branch. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? Gord and I have been on some trips and a few cruises in past years, but I really love just hanging out at home, going out to eat and having friends over. What is your favorite part of working in the Extension Office? I think that it is the neatest thing to see 4-H ers who were in 4-H when I began working here and now their children are beginning their 4-H experience. What are your hobbies? I have two favorite hobbies, number one is my next door neighbor, Tucker Lee Lowry, Gord and I love being Grandparents, and love that he is close by and as you can see, he is starting to help his Granddad and dad on our farm. Our SPECIAL DAY is Thursday, during the school year. He hangs out with his GiGi and we have a lot of fun and, he can do anything he wants. Another favorite hobby is the booth that I share with my favorite people, my daughter Alisha, and my good friends, Andi Ice, Rella Bush, and Vickie Page at Finderskeepers here in Princeton. We have a lot of fun selling things and trying to figure out what to and what will sell! In order to cut down on costs, 4-H handbooks will no longer be mailed to 4-H members. Handbooks will be given to 4-H club leaders or can be picked up at the Extension Office. One handbook will provided for each family. This will save a lot of money on postage that we can spend on providing more opportunities to 4-H members! Be sure to read your handbook thoroughly as some project requirements have changed.
