PROGRAMME OVERVIEW This programme has been specifically developed for students who have successfully completed one of the five approved VTC Higher Diploma programmes and who wish to develop their career further by completing a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying. The programme provides a route to full membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Students who successfully complete the BSc will be able to apply to the RICS to undertake the Assessment of Professional Competence upon fulfillment of the training requirement specified by the institute. This top-up degree comprises six Level 6 (UK system) modules delivered locally in Hong Kong with a series of lectures, seminars and tutorials with input provided by both VTC and University of Central Lancashire staff in all six modules. The lecture material is identical to that provided in the UK but contextualised with a Hong Kong focus, drawing on the best practice from both locations. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The programme is delivered in part-time mode and is normally delivered in 18 months of study. Engineering ENTRY REQUIREMENTS A VTC Higher Diploma from one of the following programmes: Higher Diploma in Surveying Higher Diploma in Building Studies Higher Diploma in Construction Engineering and Management Higher Diploma in Urban Renewal, Building Inspection and Maintenance Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering Applicants with Higher Diploma or Associate Degree in equivalent subject area from a recognised tertiary education will be considered on a case-by-case basis. ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS For applicants where English is not their first language or where their diploma/degree has not been studied in the English language, a score of at least 6.0 on IELTS (or equivalent) is required. ASSESSMENT Assessment is based on coursework, unseen examination, project work and the completion of a dissertation / project. EXTERNAL RECOGNITION This award is accredited by Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
