General Information and Guidelines for Admission to First Year of M.Tech. (Full Time) & M.Tech. (Part-Time) 1. Applications for admission to M.Tech. Programmes at HBTU, Kanpur for the session 2018-19 are to be submitted On-Line only. 2. Candidates are required to fill the Online application form through the website http://www.hbtu.ac.in and to submit during May 25, 2018 to June 15, 2018. 3. Candidates are advised to read these guidelines carefully, check their eligibility and applicable reservation policy etc. before filling and submitting the online application form. 4. Accepting admission in HBTU, Kanpur implies the acceptance by the candidate and his/her parents or guardians with all the provisions. Any change in the rules, regulations, fee and special conditions etc. of the University shall mutatis mutandis apply to the admitted candidate. 5. Candidates claiming advantage of reserved categories are required to indicate the same in the Online Application Form and are not required to send any certificate to the University at this stage. These certificates, in original, will have to be produced at the time of Counselling along with one set of self-attested copies of each one of them. Various forms to be submitted at the time of reporting are available on the HBTU website. These formats are subject to change even upto the date of admission, as per the orders of Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. Note that the certificate for OBC candidates will be entertained only if it is issued on or after 01.04.2018 (mandatory due to condition of creamy layer for OBC). 6. The candidates in respect of whom, the result of the qualifying examination has not been declared till the date of the counselling, due to any reason whatsoever, shall not be eligible for admission under any circumstances. 7. If any document/declaration submitted by the candidate is found to be false at any stage, his/her admission shall be cancelled and he/she may be liable for prosecution under the law. In case of any legal dispute, the jurisdiction will be limited to Kanpur courts only. 8. The candidate must himself/herself ensure about his/her eligibility for admission to M.Tech. Programme at HBTU, Kanpur. If a candidate, who is not eligible for admission
will not have any claim whatsoever, for admission to M.Tech. programme at HBTU, Kanpur 9. The Registration fee of Rs. 2000/- (non-refundable) is to be paid online.. If in any of the qualifying examinations the concerned University awards only grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet of the candidate then the decision of the Admission Committee regarding his/her eligibility shall be final. 11. The admission in M.Tech. (Full Time) will be through valid GATE score. In case of nonavailability of GATE qualified candidates; the vacant seats will be filled by non-gate candidates on the basis of written examination followed by personal interview. 12. The fee paid at the time of counselling by the candidate after the allotment of seat will be forfeited and will not be refunded under any circumstances, if the candidate does not report for the admission at HBTU Kanpur. 13. Fee exemption/reimbursement for M.Tech. (Full Time) candidates of various reserved categories belonging to U.P is permissible as per U.P. Govt. order no. 3602 SA KA/Shiksha-A/3/43/Lucknow 2017-18 dated October 5, 2017. 14. Reservation of the seats will be as per U.P. Govt. guidelines. 15. Counselling/Written test/interview will be conducted at HBTU Kanpur as per schedule given in HBTU website time to time. 16. FEES:The academic fee for admission to First year M.Tech. (Full Time) is Rs. 73,300=00. The academic fee for admission to First year M.Tech. (Part-Time) is Rs. 1,,000=00. 17. All information in connection with M.Tech. Admission 2018-19 shall be made available through the university website http://www.hbtu.ac.in. The candidates are advised to refer to the website regularly/frequently failing which HBTU, Kanpur will not be responsible for any loss due to the lack of communication.
CATEGORY OF STUDENTS: a) Full Time: A student in this category works full-time for acquiring his / her M.Tech. degree. He / she will be eligible to receive assistantship / scholarship from the University or any other recognized funding agency as per the rules. b) Sponsored: A student in this category is sponsored by a recognized R&D organization, Academic Institution, Government Organization or Industry for doing M.Tech. in the University on full-time basis. A work experience of two years (minimum) is required. The University shall not provide any assistantship / scholarship to such student. c) Part Time: A student working in an organization within 0 kilometers distance from the University and fulfilling other eligibility criteria may be considered for admission to M.Tech. programmes under this category. The candidate will have to submit No-Objection Certificate from the employer at the time of admission.
