Prabhakar, Vice President SD, made a presentation on Energy Conservation at the Forum for Sharing Best Practices, East Godavari District, in February (See Picture 2). Picture 2 Documentary The Orissa State Pollution Control Board, Bhubaneswar, selected FAP(O) and PP(O) to highlight good environmental management practices adopted in the region. At their instance, a team from Doordarshan covered our Works and telecast a programme titled AMA PARIBESHA on DD (Oriya) channel for 30 minutes, in March. Sugar Division OHSAS Awareness, conducted by the training faculty of M/s AQA, Hyderabad, in March. Orissa Works Safety Awareness, conducted by Sri Ramesh Kumar Behera, Asst. Director of Factories & Boilers, Dhenkanal, for workmen, in February. First Aid, conducted by Dr. P.K. Mohapatra, St. John Ambulance, Dhenkanal, for staff, in March (See Picture 3). Our Pleasure Picture 3 Mr. Mikhail Sidorskiy of Camlet group and Mr. C.V.Durga Prasad, our Director - Business Development, visited FAP(AP) in March. Mr. Mikhail Sidorskiy appreciated the production procedures and the greenery developed in and around the factory (See Picture 4). Celebrations Republic Day Picture 4 The Republic Day celebrations were organized at FAP (AP) from 26 th to 28 th January with grandeur. Sri D. Ashok, our Chairman, hoisted the National Flag in the factory premises. Annual Day of Nava Bharat Schools The annual day of Nava Bharat Schools was celebrated on 27 th and 28 th January in Nava Kala Bharati Auditorium. The inaugural function was graced by Sri Kanthi Rana Tata, IPS, Superintendant of Police, Khammam, as the Chief Guest. Picture 5 Annual Cultural Programme Annual Cultural Programme was organized at our Odisha Works on 23 rd February by the employees and their family members. The Students of Brahmani Public School, Kharagprasad, participated in the programme and presented colorful group dances (See Picture 5).
Picture 6 Safety Day Picture 6 shows the dance presented by employees of our Odisha Works. The Programme was inaugurated by Sri Sudhir Kumar Samal, Ex-MLA, Dhenkanal Sadar. Smt. Rebati Behera, President of Zilla Parishad, Dhenkanal Sadar and Smt. Parbati Dhal, Sarpanch, Kharagprasad Gram Panchayat, graced the function as guests of honour. Local dignitaries also attended the colorful and lively celebrations. The 40 th National Safety Day was celebrated with safety pledge by the employees and contract workmen at all Units of our company on 4 th March. Sri K. Kesavulu, Dy. Chief Inspector of Factories, Warangal, was the Chief Guest and Sri B. Rambabu, Inspector of Factories, Khammam, was the Guest of Honour at FAP(AP). Competitions in essay writing, slogans, singing, quiz, skits etc., on safety were conducted for company employees and their family members, contract workers and students of Nava Bharat Schools at FAP(AP). Sri P.C.Das, Joint Director of Factories & Boilers, Govt. of Odisha, was the Chief Guest and Sri Chandrakanta Dalai, Asst. Director of Factories & Boilers, was the Guest of Honour at our Odisha Works. Competitions were conducted on safety and prizes were given away by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour (See Picture 7) at FAP(O). Picture 7 World Water Day World Water Day was celebrated at our Works at Paloncha on 22 nd March to propagate, among all the employees, colony residents, school children and contract workmen, the concept of water conservation and prevention of water pollution. Competitions in essay writing, elocution, cartoons and singing were conducted on this occasion. Sri M. Nagarjuna, Environmental Engineer, APPCB, Regional Office, Kothagudem was the Chief Guest at a function organized on this occasion in Nava Kala Bharati Auditorium in Nava Nagar. The students of Nava Bharat Schools put up an impressive Dance Ballet JALA DHARALU highlighting the Picture 8 importance of water (See Picture 8).
The Chief Guest gave away the prizes to winners of the competitions and appreciated the efforts being put in by the company for conservation of water. Devotional Sri Lakshmi Tiru Nakshatrotsavam was performed at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Devasthanam, Paloncha, in March. A large number of devotees attended the programme and had the blessings of the Lord. Vocational Training The 2 nd batch of trainees at Nava Bharat Vocational Institute completed their 6 month training in March. Sri C. Radhakishna, Director-Projects, A.P.Genco, attended as Chief Guest, a function organized to award certificates to the trained (See Picture 9). The trainees expressed their gratitude to the management for imparting quality training. M/s BHEL GE Hyderabad conducted campus interviews in the Institute. Seven candidates out of ten were short listed for selection. Social Development An English Coaching Centre was established in January in the premises of Nava Bharat Vocational Institute to teach both verbal and written English to the educated unemployed youth, (See Picture 10). Our company launched a Mobile Science Laboratory for the benefit of students of Government High schools in backward areas. Our Chairman Sri D. Ashok flagged off the Mobile Science Laboratory vehicle (See Picture 11). The main objective of this project is to improve the interest level of children in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Picture 11 In association with L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, our company has established Nava Bharat Eye Centre (See Picture 12) in our premises at Paloncha to provide world-class outpatient care, surgical care, nursing care, community eye care & rehabilitation programme and serve the needs of a large tribal and other underprivileged population. Picture 12 Picture 13 The company has contributed 1.1 acres of land, constructed the building for the centre and donated funds for purchase of necessary equipment and furniture. Sri Y. Poornachandra Rao, EVP-FAP(AP), lit the light in the hospital as a mark of opening the eye centre formally on 18 th February (See Picture 13). Think it over The world suffers a lot.
