What is Naviance? Naviance is an electronic portfolio commonly used by middle schools, high schools and colleges to assist in the college application process. Lyman Hall High School students can use Naviance for various purposes such as: Research colleges and universities Investigate careers Explore personality traits & interests Locate scholarships Build a resume Research college majors
Family Connection Lyman Hall High School is delighted to offer our students and parents Family Connection by Naviance. Family Connection is a customizable planning portal designed to help with the college & career decision making process. We understand that the application process is often associated with some degree of stress. We hope that this document as well as the resources we have provided on our website help make the experience more manageable for our students and families.
Logging In To access your account, please visit the following link: http://connection.naviance.com/lymanhall Your username and password are what you would use to get on the school network. When you login to your account, you will be taken to the Family Connection Welcome Page. From this page, you have access to different sections of the website.
Family Connection Welcome Page 1.) Navigational Bar The Navigational Bar will always remain at the top of the page. You can always navigate back to the Welcome Page, Colleges, Careers, About Me, or My Planner pages by simply clicking on the desired tab. Please note that the Welcome Page tab is the orange tab on the far left. 2.) Messages On the right hand side, you will see any messages that the School Counseling office has sent to you through Family Connection. These messages inform you of important deadlines, events, and more. 3.) Useful Links On the bottom left hand side of the Welcome Page, you will find useful links to important resources such as the CommonApp, FAFSA and more. 4.) My Colleges As a senior, this is where you will need to add the schools you are applying to. By clicking on the Colleges I m Applying to link, you can add colleges to your list.
Benefits of the Colleges Tab The colleges section of Naviance Family Connection allows you to access numerous tools and resources such as: Creating a prospective colleges list (colleges I m thinking about applying to) Keeping track of application materials submitted to colleges you have applied to (Seniors) Upcoming college visit announcements and sign-ups Set preferences to receive a list of colleges that match your set criteria Search for scholarships you may qualify for Compare your test scores to statistical averages of your prospective colleges Gather information on individual colleges The next slide provides a visual aid on how to navigate the colleges tab

SENIORS ONLY: Colleges I m Applying to Seniors who are applying to college need to add their schools in Naviance so the School Counseling Department & the teachers writing your recommendation letters, can send your paperwork accordingly To add the schools you are applying to: On the Welcome page, click the colleges tab At the top of the page, click colleges I m applying to (see previous 2 slides for visual aid) *If you are not a senior, please disregard these instructions and this slide*

Seniors Only: Colleges I m Applying to The colleges I m applying to page allows you: See which colleges your transcripts & recommendation letters have been sent to See what documents have been sent to each college E-mail the admission office directly For each college, easily access the admission office website Request teacher recommendations see next slide for instructions
Teacher Recommendations At the bottom of the Colleges I m Applying to page, you will see Teacher Recommendation Requests Important note: You should always speak to your teacher in person prior to submitting the electronic request through Naviance

Careers Tab The Careers tab offers a range of tools and resources to help students discover different types of careers based on their personal interests and qualities You may access the Careers tab at the top of the page at any time

Benefits of the Careers Tab Search for any career by simply clicking on explore careers & clusters Discover your personality type and interests by completing the career interest profiler Once you complete the career interest profiler, your results are saved & can be viewed at any time by clicking on career interest profiler or favorite careers & clusters
About Me Tab Set goals & complete tasks throughout your 4 years at Lyman Hall View your assessment results Create favorites lists to keep track of colleges & careers you re interested in Create & load your resume View your PSAT or SAT scores The next slide provides a visual aid on how to navigate the About Me tab
