NEW EMPLOYEES Deshanda Bailey Secretary of Field Experience & Internship: Teacher Education Services Imani Tucker Testing Center Assistant Laura Moore Testing Center Assistant PINK ELEPHANT LUNCHEON The Pink Elephant Luncheon was held Wednesday, October 18 th at the Limestone Event Center. The luncheon was a fundraising effort in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. In attendance from Athens State were Judy Stinnett, Cathy Brett, Mary Simpson, Suzanne Sims, Felicia Mucci, Barbara Ferguson, Necedah Henderson, and Shirley Troupe. UNIVERSITY CLOSED The University will be closed November 22 nd, 23 rd, and 24 th.
WHO KNEW? Name: Renee Stanford Assistant Director of Student Financial Aid What is your employment history with Athens State? I have worked at the university for more than 25 years. The first year, I worked for Evening Services, Admissions, and Financial Aid. After that, I spent the next eight years in Admissions, and the last sixteen years in Financial Aid. What do you like most about working at Athens State? Many of the people I have worked with are still here today. I treasure my friendships with my co-workers most of all. What is on your wish list for Athens State for the next ten years? I wish: Satellite campuses across the Southeast Your proudest moment at Athens State? Completing my undergrad and graduate degrees. Tell us about your family. My husband, Chad, and I have been together for eighteen years. Our son, Hayden, is a senior and member of the golf team, and our daughter, Makenna, is in eighth grade and a member of the basketball team. What is your favorite family tradition? We usually spend the night of Thanksgiving and the next day decorating for Christmas. What book are you reading now? Or have recently read Current: The Chronological Bible and In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware Just Finished: Watch Me Disappear by Janelle Brown so good I finished all 368 pages in two days If you could have a dinner party and invite any four people, dead or alive, the guest list would be: Jesus, Grandmamma, DeDe, and MaMaw What was your favorite TV show to watch as a child? Bewitched and HeeHaw Tell us something that might surprise us about you. Back in the day, I was nuts for NASCAR races. I have attended several and was fortunate enough to be in the pits for a few. I met many of the drivers and crew chiefs I followed. Where is the best place you ve traveled to and why? For me, Orange Beach is the best place I have traveled. It is where I experience peace and feel closest to God. What is the best concert you ever attended? Taylor Swift (when she was still country). I took my daughter, who was in kindergarten at the time, and watching her so excited to meet her inspiration, meant everything to me. What are your favorite sports and/or pastimes? Alabama Football! Ardmore Basketball and Ardmore Golf. What is your personal philosophy? Live life to the fullest. Discover the purpose God has for your life and pursue it. Never stop learning. Above all else, LOVE ALL, no matter how hard it is. Nothing else matters.

FAMILY NEWS Jeff and Phyllis Claxton s beautiful yard was the Garden Profile featured in the November / December edition of Alabama Gardener magazine. The six-page spread included an article entitled Savor the Garden Slowly and highlighted their lovely landscape in various photos. TAKE A WALK!
