President s Notes... 2 Dec PPCC Meeting Minutes... 3 PPCC 2017 Election Results... 3 Upcoming Meeting Info... 4 Dues Reminder... 4 2017 Activities Calendar... 5 PPCC Admin and Contacts... 6 PRESIDENT S NOTES Happy New Year, 2017 to everyone!! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and you re staying warm during some of our extra chilly, winter days. Many thanks to Randy Karl for his leadership the past two years. Following in the footsteps of Randy, I know I have large shoes to fill. Thank you to Ed Halpin for serving as Vice President the past 2 years. Your enthusiasm for the Club is deeply appreciated. Congratulations to Ray Schick for being elected to the office of Vice President. Thank yous also go out to Mary Ellen Feasel, our Secretary, Wayne Russert, our Treasurer, and Allen Armine our Member at Large, for accepting to serve as Officers on the Board for another year. I am deeply honored to be elected to serve as President of the PPCC, and look forward to the opportunity to work with the new Board and all the Club members. I first became a member of the PPCC after chatting with Kelina Halpin at work one afternoon, and learned that her family were not only owners of several Corvairs, but actively involved in the PPCC. Having owned a 64 Corvair Coupe as my first car in high school, and then several more, including a 63 convertible, and a 62 Monza Wagon, a spark was relit to get back into the love of owning and driving Corvairs. I joined the PPCC, and the hunt began. Many months passed before finding the perfect car for me a 64 convertible, which had been On The Cover: Chris Kimberly added a nice piece of Americana to her collectibles this Christmas; a porcelain replica of the oldest McDonalds in the country, located in Downey, California. The actual building is almost unchanged in appearance since it opened in 1953. Looks pretty good next to the 60 Corvair die cast she picked up last year! owned by a previous member of the PPCC. Some Club members shared fun stories with me about the car and its previous owner, and others helped me in getting the car out on the road again after a few years of sitting in a garage. It was very exciting to go to my first Tri-State in Durango, and then to Palm Springs for the Great Western Fan Belt Toss. I look forward to hearing from each of you concerning the direction you d like to see the Club take. Several members have already expressed an interest in participating in more shows, day trips, and more tech sessions. Please look for a short survey coming your way. Your response will be greatly appreciated as we plan the upcoming calendar of events for this year. Just one more reminder that the Club is in need of a newsletter Editor. Ed has created wonderful newsletters for the Club for the past few years and wants to pass the pen or maybe better to say the keyboard, to another Club member. Please consider this position. Ed is willing to help get you started. This is an important communication for us all, so let your creativity flow and volunteer!! We also have a new meeting location for January.. Sarge s Grill in Fountain. Directions and a map are on page 7 in this newsletter. A special thanks to Betty West for suggesting this meeting location. They have a private room for us. Sarge s Grill is a Winner for 2016 for the Gazette s Best of the Springs. I m looking forward to seeing everyone at the January meeting. MEETING MINUTES - 12/18/2016 Colorado Springs, CO Meeting called to order around 1pm by Club VP Ed Halpin Submitted by Ed Halpin, Club VP Ed welcomed everyone to the Christmas Party, passed out the PPCC Officer Election Ballots and a free drink ticket to each member. Ed acknowledged those present, as well as reflected on those who were no longer with us or unable to attend. Ed explained the election process, and throughout the afternoon, members filled out their individual ballots and dropped them in The Official Ballot Box. Prior to the election, Jon Anderson removed himself from consideration for any elected position. Everyone enjoyed a nice meal, and then while desert was being delivered, the members in attendance took part in the yearly Yankee Gift Exchange. Lots of nice gifts this year, everyone appeared to have a good time! After the gift exchange, the ballots were counted, and when the dust settled, it was determined that Christine Kimberly was elected President, and Ray Schick will serve as Vice President for 2017. Mary Ellen Feasel will continue to serve in her role as Club Secretary, as will Wayne Russert as our Club Treasurer, and Allen Amrine will serve as our Member-At-Large on the Board. Thanks and appreciation was passed on to all of the new Officers. Those Officers will take on their new roles beginning with the January meeting on 1/15/17. A short discussion of CORSA related subjects followed the elections, and then Ed wished everyone a safe drive home and a very Happy New Year. Party/meeting adjourned around 4:00 pm. So Ya Know! PPCC 2017 Officer Election Results The votes have all been counted and, as willed by a majority of the membership present at the December PPCC business meeting, your newly elected 2017 Club Officers are: President: Vice President: Secretary: Treasurer: Member at Large: Christine Kimberly Ray Schick Mary Ellen Feasel Wayne Russert Allen Amrine Congratulations to all the winners of this years elections, and a great big thanks for taking on a leadership role in the Club. Now, with the Election season over, we can get on to the business of enjoying our Corvairs and sharing in the fun with each other, and the public!! Volume 40, Number 1 3 January/February/March 2017

Upcoming Meeting Locations (3 months out) Sunday, January 15th, 2017 @ 9:30am, Sarge s Grill Restaurant, 6436 HWY 85/87, Fountain, CO. Sunday, February 19th, @ 9:30am, Location TBD and will be published on the Club Website. Sunday, March 19th, 2017 @ 9:30am, Location TBD and will be published on the Club Website. It s That Time Of Year! - Pay Your Yearly PPCC Dues!! 2017 will mark the 40th year that the PPCC has been around (57 years if we go by John and Dee s scrap book ). It s pretty cool that we still have several members on our rolls who joined in the 70s and early 80s, as well as a couple of our founding members. Our yearly Membership Drive is an opportunity to reach out and encourage other members of the collector car hobby to join with us, in the PPCC, and experience the fun and memories that only being around a classic car can bring. We all understand that membership in a Club is not for everyone, and that the decision to join, or renew, is a personal decision which folks make each year, based on a number of factors, including family and work schedules, health, and mobility. For our members within the Colorado Springs and surrounding areas, we hope that you will once again join us for another year of touring and exploring the local area with our cars and sharing your Corvair stories with the public. And, for our out-of-state and outof-area members, who we rarely get to see, the Board would like to express a great big Thank You for your continued support of our efforts each year. Your dues contribution plays a big part in how we plan the Club activities for the coming year. Even if we can t see your smiling faces, outside of Facebook and the newsletter, we wanted you all to know that we do appreciate the support! To help our Treasurer, Mr. Wayne Russert, manage the books effectively, we would ask that everyone please send their dues renewal check in no later than 10 February, 2017 to the following address: PPCC, ATTN: Treasurer-2017 Dues, P.O. Box 15034, Colorado Springs, CO 80935. Or, you can always pay in person at the January 15th or February 19th meetings. We d like to close the books on the 2017 Membership Drive by the end of February, and your support in meeting that goal would be greatly appreciated. * A reminder that while membership in CORSA is not a prerequisite for new membership, or renewal in the PPCC, we strongly encourage support of the national organization, which works to supports our local efforts through an event liability insurance policy, and free hosting of our Chapter website. Volume 40, Number 1 4 January/February/March 2017

2017 PPCC Activities Calendar All planned events will be noted on the Club s interactive calendar, located on our website @ http://www.corvair.org/chapters/chapter809/calendar/calendar.htm Saturday, September 2nd, 8am- 1pm: First Saturday Car Show, Colorado Springs, CO. This local show is always set for the first Saturday of each month at First and Main Town Center, Colorado Springs, CO, and in 2017, the PPCC will finally get a chance to host one of the shows!! Volunteers will be needed, so be prepared to support this major Club event!! denotes events where Corvairs have had a significant presence. THIS SPACE RESERVED FOR YOUR IDEAS AND CONTRIBUTONS Any Club newsletter is only as good as the contributions and inputs it receives from the members. From the Editor: Since no one has stepped up to take over the responsibilities of Editor for the Club s monthly newsletter, publication of The Drip Line will move to a quarterly edition, effective with this issue. IAW the current CORSA Chapter Plan (2015), we remain in full compliance as a Chapter in good standing since we have an active website (thanks Kelina) and will maintain a schedule of monthly business meetings. Over the years, the PPCC has been blessed with a number of great writers, who enjoy sharing their thoughts, and Corvair adventures. Make 2017 another great year for The Drip Line!! Thanks!
