New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges NSWCCC Netball Championships Tuesday 15 th August 2017 Jamison Park Penrith

WELCOME MESSAGE Welcome to the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges Netball Championships. We want to acknowledge the wonderful opportunities that the Catholic Netball Association has provided to many students and schools since 1983. Again this year we have a large number of team entries. A special thanks to the coaches and managers of all the teams for volunteering their time and expertise. Congratulations to all players on their selection to represent their school. Thank you to Penrith Netball Association for the use of facilities for this event. And in particular Nicole Fagan for her support and guidance. Many thanks to the umpires who have given up their time to make this competition possible and in particular Wendy Bock and Emily Midson, the umpire coordinators for the Championships. I would also like to acknowledge the sponsorship of Orbie Mini Donuts. A reminder to all teams competing that sunscreen and water are vital for competitions like this. Please ensure you keep your area tidy and use the bins provided. On behalf of all committee members, to all competitors, welcome to Penrith. We hope you enjoy your sport, good luck and enjoy the sportsmanship and camaraderie that is important to NSWCCC. We wish you a safe trip to your homes at the conclusion of the Championships. PROGRAM OF EVENTS 7.45am Team Registration (Pick up Managers Pack) 8.20am Welcome and Prayer 8.30am Round One 9.00am Round Two 9.30am Round Three 10.00am Round Four 10.30am Round Five 11.00am Round Six 11.30am Round Seven 12.00pm Round Eight 12.30pm Round Nine 1.00pm Round Ten 1.30pm Round Eleven 2.00pm Round Twelve 2.30pm Round Thirteen 3.00pm Round Fourteen 3.30pm Finals for Championship Divisions Only 4.00pm Conclusion PRAYER Opening: The feast of the Assumption commemorates the glorification of Mary, chosen by God, to be the mother of Jesus the Christ. The feast acquired a special status as a feast of Mary when Pius XII in 1950 defined the assumption as a dogma of faith. On this feast day, we are encouraged to affirm our humanity and work to enhance the dignity of people as daughters and sons of God. Prayer: Lord, you called Mary to be the mother of Jesus and the mother of us all. Let the example of her faithfulness inspire us to open ourselves to the fullness of your grace, that we, too, may bear Christ to the world. Grant this in the name of the same Jesus Christ who lives with you and the Holy Spirit forever. Amen. All: Hail Mary, full of grace, the LORD is with thee, blessed are you among all women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus, Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and in the hour of our death. Amen

FIRST AID Medics Australia Pty Ltd has been engaged to deliver a professional medical and first-aid service to everyone on site including players, officials, spectators, volunteers, and contractors priority will be based on a triage system where patients will be treated according to the seriousness of each case. Please note the following: AMBULANCES Medics Australia First Aid Officer is the only person who should call an ambulance. If an injury is so serious that you think an Ambulance MAY be required then, firstly, have the Medics attend and examine the patient so they can decide the most appropriate action. The experienced medics are familiar with Ambulance procedures and have established contact with Ambulance Service and the local Hospitals Emergency Departments. INJURY TREATMENT PROTOCOLS Any student who requires medical assistance should present themselves to the Medical Room for assessment and treatment. If it is a serious injury please send someone to the medical room to alert the medics. Wheelchairs will be available from the Medical Room. We ask teachers or a parent to accompany a student to the Medical Room. ICE Students must attend the Medical Room if they require ICE. Ice will available once the patient has been assessed by the Medical Officer. Ice will not be handed out unless these procedures are followed. CONCUSSION In the event of any player, from any team, receiving a trauma to the head or neck, or a head injury (anything above the shoulder), or if any person is suspected of being, or appears to be, or may be, concussed, that person must be referred to the Medics for assessment. The Medics will assess the player to determine if the player is fit to return to play, the initial process usually takes no longer than 2 minutes to clear the player. Should a player be ruled unfit to play by the Medics for any reason this must be adhered to. HYDRATION Please encourage players to remain hydrated throughout the day. It is recommended to commence fluid intake NO LATER than 120 minutes (2 hours) before competition commences. Water is the best fluid for hydration purposes. Sports drinks and energy drinks are not recommended for hydration purposes. SUNSCREEN Players, officials, and spectators are encouraged to frequently apply sunscreen throughout the event. Sunscreen will be available in the Medical Room. CONTACT THE MEDICS If you wish to seek advice from the Medics, or if any of the above requires further explanation, please contact the Duty Officer at Medics Australia on 1300 73 78 75 during business hours, or visit the Medical Room during the event.
