This curse will further develp vcabulary, and cntinuusly intrduce students t mre cmplex sentence structure and higher level grammatical skills thrughut the semester. Simultaneusly, students will be intrduced t varius aspects f Arab culture and histry. All class exercises and activities are either taskbased r student centered. Aside frm the primary textbk, students will als be expsed t ther materials such as magazine articles, daily newspapers and shrt stries. Learning Objectives By the end f this curse, students shuld be able t: 1. Read texts n a variety f tpics and understand the main ideas, using the dictinary, 2. Understand and frm basic sentence structures in Arabic and start t wrk n the cmplex sentence, 3. Speak with ease abut themselves, their academic backgrund and interests, and t hld sustained cnversatins and discussins n a wide range f tpics, 4. Carry ut written jurnals and reprts n issues related t daily life, mvies, articles, etc. 5. Becme familiar with sme f the differences between MSA and Mrccan Cllquial Arabic (Darija). 6. Gain an in-depth knwledge f varius aspects f Arab culture (e.g. scial custms, religius traditins, family life, etc.) with particular fcus n Mrcc. Curse Prerequisites Prir study f the Arabic language (Beg I, II and III) Curse Requirements : In additin t class participatin, assigned hmewrk, students are highly encuraged t fllw these pints n a daily basis:

Review what has been cvered after each class, particularly new grammatical structures and/r usages, t make sure they fully understand hw and when t use them. Keep a ntebk f new vcabulary: use each new wrd intrduced either in the curse texts r in class activities and discussins in a sentence. Keep a daily jurnal: it is highly recmmended that students write abut their daily lives and experiences in Mrcc. Ask questins in class whenever they need additinal explanatin t clarify new structures and hw r when t use them. Practice speaking Arabic as much as pssible, especially when yu interact utside with native speakers utside f class as well as with the teacher and classmates. Curse materials: 1. Varius audi-visual materials, texts frm Arabic newspapers and magazines & handuts prepared by the teacher Curse Assessment: The final grade is assessed by the fllwing criteria: Class Participatin 20% Attendance 15% Hmewrk 25% Quizzes 15% Written Exam 15% Oral exam (presentatins): 10% Curse Requirements Attendance and Class Participatin The aim f class participatin is t: Ask and answer questins, interact with classmates and the prfessr, and read the assigned lessns ahead f class time in rder t be able t fllw class discussins and review vcabulary and grammar with classmates. Quizzes Quizzes are scheduled at the end f each tw weeks in rder t prepare students fr the final written and ral assessments. Written Exam There are tw written exams, ne at the halfway pint in the semester (5weeks) and the ther at the end f the semester. The tw exams cntain everything that was cvered in class and thrugh assignments. Including bk assignments and lessns, vcabulary and in-class wrk. Oral Exam (Presentatins) Students are administered an ral interview t assess their verbal cmmunicatin abilities at the end f the semester.
