We will be collecting new enrollment forms and dues at the September and October club meetings. Mailbox members may return their new form and dues by mail or by stopping by the Extension Office. The year will kick off with a new line-up of lesson topics and special interest workshops. The Lesson Topics include Making Healthy Beverage Choices, Expand Your Creativity with Chalk Paint, Creating and Maintaining Family Traditions, Varying Your Fruits & Veggies with Exotic Choices, Gardening in Small Spaces, Travel Safety: Know Before You Go, and Savvy Sellers & Bargain Hunters. We encourage all members to invite family and friends to join the Homemakers for the learning opportunities and fellowship from being with others. Please discard the rough draft calendar that was shared at the Homemaker kick off event.

This lesson will be taught by Jennifer Bridge, Meade County Agent for Family & Consumer Science Education. Newspaper Monthly Club Report Schedule To promote the Homemaker Organization a rotation list has been developed to send a monthly article to the newspaper. New articles may be dropped off at the Extension Office or emailed to lallen@uky.edu and we will forward to the newspaper. It works for smart phones and other cell phones. If you would like to receive text messages on your phone regarding Homemaker events follow these directions to sign up. Text the message @cakk8 to 81010. You will receive a welcome text from Remind. If you have trouble with 81010 you can text the same message to 859-838-1304. 2

The group will sell baked goods, hand-made crafts and promote the fall membership drive. Volunteers will be needed to work the booth throughout the day. A 2-hour shift schedule has been started and volunteers can call the Extension Office to sign up to help or for their club to help. Taste of Christmas The annual Taste of Christmas is right around the corner! A planning committee meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 19th at 1 p.m. (ct) in the basement of the Extension Office. Event coordinators, county officers, each club president or a representative are asked to serve on the planning committee. Watch for complete details in the November & December Newsletters. Annual Fiscal Court Appreciation Program To show our appreciation to the Fiscal Court and Elected Officials, gift baskets will be presented once again this fall, each club will be asked for donations for the baskets. Breckinridge County Sewing Circle The Breckinridge County Sewing Circle meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month year round from 9 to noon, (ct) in the basement of the Extension Office. For more information contact 270-756-2182 Paper Crafters Workshop The paper crafters are offering several upcoming workshops to make holiday cards. All members and friends are invited to come and create handmade cards. All supplies are provided with the $6 workshop fee. Workshop dates: Tuesdays, October 11th and 25th, November 8th and 22nd in the basement of the Extension Office at 6 p.m. (ct) each night. Please call the office at 270-756-2182 or email lallen@uky.edu to register Workshop fee covers one plate, painting supplies and firing expenses. Choice of plate and registration fee due to the Extension office by Wednesday, October 12th, so supplies can be purchased. Living Well in the Golden Years A special interest group has begun meeting bi-weekly to learn about nutrition and taste test a new healthy recipe. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 10th at 9 a.m. (ct) in the Extension Office basement. Everyone is invited to join in.
