www.bettshow.com/speakatbett The learning space has to be somewhere where we can practice, where we can try things out Bill Rankin, Director, Unfold Learning at Bett Bett 2019 Speaker Guide 23-26 January 2019, ExCeL, London

For 35 years Bett has been at the forefront, driving the transformation of education through the adoption of technology. Our mission is to bring together people, ideas, practices and technologies so that educators and learners can fulfil their potential. 2019 CONTENT PROGRAMME The Bett content programme is where the world s education community come together to drive progress within the sector. This is your opportunity to reflect, to share stories and to inspire. If you think you have an idea that everyone in education needs to hear, your pitch needs to be creative (in every way). This creativity must flow throughout; from idea to execution remember the best learning comes through inspiration. Here s 4 handy steps on how to prepare your submission: Step 1 - Brainstorming your content proposal - Page 3 Step 2 - Where does your idea fit? - Page 8 Step 3 - Write & submit your proposal - Page 13 Step 4 - Prepare for your moment in the spotlight - Page 15 02

STEP 1 BRAINSTORMING YOUR CONTENT PROPOSAL 03

Consider your audience 30% Teacher 30% Leader 22% Techie 6% Reseller 13% Other There are over 34,700 attendees (131 countries represented) from the global education community 68% of visitors attend seminar content across the Bett stages Each visitor at Bett attends an average of 4 content sessions 90% of visitors agree that Bett is the place for ed tech Bett offers a unique opportunity for speakers to reach their targeted audience and the prestige of speaking the world s top Ed Tech event. I would recommend it to anyone looking to make an impact as it offers speakers an amazing opportunity, the support staff are always there to help and the experience of speaking will not only promote your story but it will also give you a great sense of achievement. Nathan John, Founder/Managing Director, Rewise Learning Ltd Hosted by The Prince s Trust 04

WHAT is your story? Take a moment to think about the story you want to tell at Bett. The best talks tend to focus on a single clear message or idea. This is your opportunity to speak to a room full of leading educators and those passionate about the universe of education from around the world. What do you want to be known for? An inspirational piece or a transformative idea A big announcement or game-changing development Burning industry issue Insights for the world of education and technology Call to action Beautiful education story Fresh ways of thinking Reviews of good work Deep-dive case study How-to guide on an educational issue How should you tell your story? Something that moves the audience emotionally A story that changes the landscape of education A story that explores current affairs, and their impact on the future of the sector White-hot trends and insights that will change how people approach their work Inspire and challenge the audience Inspire the audience with compelling stories of education journeys Inspire the audience to think differently and challenge their beliefs These go down particularly well with our audience, especially when they include examples of collaboration Detailed analysis and deconstruction of transformative projects that have worldwide implications Stories that impart knowledge, new skills or techniques 05

WHO should tell your story? Your chosen speaker plays a huge part in the success of a proposal. There are unlimited types of speakers you could bring to the stage, but relevancy is key not just to the idea, but also the Bett audience. Our visitors look to hear from: Educationalists Senior educational figures, education industry C-Suite figures with inspiring ideas and stories, rising stars, high-achievers, mavericks and legends are always popular with our audience Inspirational young people Pupils and exceptional young people can help to communicate your story in a stand-out way. Everyone at Bett is passionate about unlocking the potential in the next generation and sometimes the best message comes from them Celebrities who are passionate, or on an education mission They have featured prominently at Bett in recent years but they are absolutely not a requirement for securing a slot and most importantly they must be highly relevant Thinkers & doers This category includes minds from outside the industry, including philosophers and theorists, but also creators, scientists, engineers, makers and creatives Moderators These are as important as speakers so we advise that all moderators/interviewers have professional interview experience, preferably in a broadcast medium. They must also have some relevance to the topic or interviewees How many speakers on stage? We recommend you have no more than four people on stage at one time (including the moderator or interviewer). 06

HOW do you want to tell your story? The Bett audience wants to be inspired, sometimes challenged, and certainly entertained. This is a global platform to share world class ideas and best practice. We can t stress enough how important it is to get the format and delivery of your session exactly right. Different formats and delivery styles work better depending on the space. We ask you to give this element great consideration and encourage you to be as creative and innovative as you can, with how you wish to convey your idea. Keynote-style presentation One or two people deliver a talk, with optional presentation materials Structured debates & discussions A structured panel session, with a professional moderator and no more than four people Incisive interviews Picking the brains of great leaders and icons with an education focus Practical demonstration These could be show-and-tell, or even involve the audience Performance piece This could include musical, theatrical, poetry performances or real-time artistic projects Interactive/practical element Includes solo and team challenges, competitive elements, collaborative projects Live Q&A Question and answer formats, with audience participation. Could include debate or voting elements 07

bett summits Each of the international events in our Bett Global Series are made up of two component parts a leadership summit and an exhibition. The leadership summit is for regional education ministers and influencers, complete with inspirational talks celebrating best practice and success stories. This is accompanied by an expo floor of leading companies showcasing their inventive edtech products and services. On the expo floor there are two small stages for sponsored sessions, exploring some of the major challenges and innovations coming to the forefront in the regions they are based in. The same standards apply to these events as per London and we are keen to hear as many ideas as possible and where relevant to connect practitioners and brands to ensure the best overall experience for our visitors. A limited number of sponsorship opportunities exist within the events and more information on these can be shared by emailing content@bettshow.com.
