Interviews with repeating guests Many of our guests are visiting Ayurveda Paragon to revive their health and vitality. Some guests come in search of relief or healing from acute diseases. In the 20-year history of Ayurveda Paragon, we have come into thousands of guests who have found a great love and appreciation for what the practice of Ayurveda has to offer. There is repeating clientele who has been with us from the opening day that continue to visit Paragon today. We have testimony from a few of our repeating guests that we d like to share with you. Our guest since 1996 Felicitas E. was one of the first guests who visited Ayurveda Paragon during its opening on October 24th 1996. Together with approx. 51 guests she enjoyed one of the first Panchakarma-cures in this house. People were working continuously day and night before the opening, so everything could be prepared in time. The opening ceremony was an impressing event for Felicitas E. There was a fascinating Buddhist monk ceremony that lasted all night. Sri Lanka s Prime Minister at the time, Sirimavo Bandaranaike personally attended the opening of Ayurveda Paragon, which of course was a special honor for the hotel. For Felicitas E. the cure had become an outstanding success. The treatments, the balanced and well-tasting food as well as her doctor in charge and the therapists contributed to it. Communication between departments already ran smoothly at that time and everyone worked well together. In the beginning, doctor s consultations were held in a team, to broaden the knowledge and experience about European culture and demands faster. Felicitas E. still likes to return to Ayurveda Paragon, to refuel for the new projects that wait for her in Germany. 06
Joachim V. Our guest since 1998 Joachim V. has visited Ayurveda Paragon 15 times in the last 18 years and plans to return again and again. He has seen a lot in Sri Lanka in terms of other Ayurvedic Resorts to compare and to finally decide for his cure hotel. As mentioned, his decision was made a long time ago and he would never take a cure in another hotel again. Joachim V. benefits a lot from the Ayurvedic therapy with its medical and therapeutic care. He is suffering from an incurable disease, but in the course of time he could achieve many successes, which still enable him to travel to Sri Lanka. But not only has the therapy helped him to keep the required balance, he also enthuses over the warm atmosphere, the smile of the staff, making his heart flourish. For him, the Ayurveda Paragon has become a home, for his body, mind and soul. Additionally, the contact with other guests is very important to him and makes him feel comfortable. Joachim V. enjoys sharing his views and likes to share his experiences with other guests especially those who visit Paragon for the first time. Richild v. H. Our guest since 1997 Since 1997 Richild v. H. finds beauty and health at the Paragon. The caring atmosphere, to which all staff members contribute, authentic beauty and calmness of the Paragon are incomparably relaxing for her. It is of significant value and a great pleasure for Mrs. Richild v. H. that she can swim in the warm ocean, protected by a reef. She has much faith in the thousands of year old Ayurvedic art since it helped her when western medicine faced its limits. Gerda E. Our guest since 1999 When Gerda E. is walking through the hotel, she knows all the employees, and everybody recognizes her. Counting her 31 st visit this year, she is one of our most frequently repeating guests. Since her first stay in 1999 Gerda E. usually takes a cure with us twice a year. She swears by the Ayurvedic art of healing, which, as she says, is practiced excellently at the Ayurveda Paragon. Gerda E. is receiving therapy that is easing her back pains and also for her knee arthritis the cures have been proven effective. Not only the quality of the treatments but also the caring staff as well as the atmosphere are further reasons for her unparalleled loyalty. 07

We present our employees Mr. Liyanage was one of the first members of the Paragon team and one of the most important personnel in the opening of Paragon. He started as a Resident Manager in mid July 1996 and was announced General Manager in March 1997 by the Chairman Mr. Samararatne. When Mr. Liyanage started in Paragon, the hotel was still under construction. There was neither water nor electricity supply. His first official act was recruiting the head of departments and their teams: reception, housekeeping, restaurant, maintenance, health centre, garden- and pool area as well as security. Sriyan Liyanage General Manager Each morning Mr. Liyanage does his rounds through the hotel. He prefers this daily ritual to regular meetings with his head of departments. For him, sitting on a table and listening to reports is not sufficient. With his daily tour he would like to give the employees the opportunity to discuss their issues with him. His slogan is: Confidence is good, control is better. For this, Mr. Liyanage likes to wear his leisure outfit he just feels more comfortable in it. How about the rest of his day? No day is like the next, because Mr. Liyanage is the contact person for all occurrences within the hotel. This refers to all departments for which he has to make the executive decisions. But he is also at the disposal of the guests at any time. The objective of Mr. Liyanage is to constantly improve and optimize the holistic care of Ayurveda Paragon. Although the Paragon is a large-scale Ayurveda house with 68 rooms, the guests appreciate the extraordinary personal care.
