In the State Budget the college has received $7,578,000 to enable us to demolish the front wing of the college and to build new, modern classrooms and an ICT hub. The Honorable James Merlino visited the college on Wednesday May 3 rd to announce the funding to the local community. In this issue: Principal s Report VCE Top 10 2018 Year 12 Pathways Information Working Bee Thank You SSL Team Community Learning Project Update Science News Curiositorium News Music News Upcoming Sport Dates: Wednesday 17 th May Year 8 Sports Monday 22 nd May Year 7 Sport Friday 26 th May Whole College Athletics Carnival In his letter confirming the new funding he writes: Having modern and up-to-date classrooms and facilities in our schools is a fundamental part of ensuring every child has the best possible education. We can t build the Education State without investing in our schools bricks and mortar. This grant will mean that once the library and administration offices are complete (our first grant of $3 million) the college will be able to continue with the building program to achieve an environment which supports students to achieve to their potential. At this stage it is anticipated that the required demolition to build the library will occur in the July term break and excavation and building works will then commence in Term Three. College Athletics Carnival The whole school Athletics carnival is being held on Friday May 26 th at the Knox Athletics track. Parents are welcome to attend during the day and if you are bringing your student or taking them home with you at the end of the day please sign in and out with Ms Ibbott. Students are encouraged to dress in house colours on the day and will be transported to and from the college by bus. Margaret Uren Principal

VCE Top 10 - Excellence and Motivation Congratulations to the following students for being the top 10 for excellence and motivation in March and April! To be eligible to be considered part of the top 10 students have to be nominated by their teachers. For excellence nominations they have to be in the top three of their class. For motivation they have to show consistent improvement and willingness to put in the work to achieve personal success. Those students to receive the most nominations get to be part of the top 10!
