Contact: Julie Jerome 830.221.2621 julie.jerome@comalisd.org June 13, 2013 NEWS RELEASE Comal ISD administrative changes announced Comal ISD administration announces the following campus administrative changes, effective with the beginning of the school year: Bill Brown Elementary School (BBES) Sarah Permenter has been named principal of BBES. Ms. Permenter comes to Comal ISD from Humble ISD, where she most recently served as assistant principal of Greentree Elementary. She has worked for Humble ISD since 2005, serving as a 2 nd grade teacher, reading specialist and administrative intern. From 2005 to 2008, she was an adjunct faculty member of the Teacher Certification Program with Lone Star College System in Kingwood. She earned a bachelor s degree from Texas Tech University and a master s degree from Texas State University. Rahe Bulverde (RBES) Heather Moore has been named principal of RBES. Ms. Moore comes to Comal ISD from North East ISD, where she most recently served as the assistant principal of Castle Hills Elementary School. From 2005 through June 2012, she
served in the Sweetwater ISD, as principal of Sweetwater Intermediate School and Southeast Elementary School, and as the director of the JP Cowen Early Childhood Center. She taught 4 th grade in North East ISD and 5 th grade in Sweetwater ISD. Ms. Moore earned a bachelor s degree from Texas State University and a master s degree from University of Texas at San Antonio. Rebecca Creek Elementary School (RCES) Jodie Wymore has been named principal of RCES. Ms. Wymore most recently served in the Office of Educator Preparation with Texas State University, and was a coordinator of principal leadership with the Texas TAP system. Ms. Wymore spent most of her career with Hays CISD, serving as the principal of Carpenter Hill Elementary and Fuentes Elementary schools. She was an instructional strategist at Elm Grove Elementary and a 4 th and 5 th grade teacher at Kyle Elementary and Kyle Intermediate schools. Ms. Wymore earned a bachelor s degree and master s degree from Texas State University. Timberwood Park Elementary School (TPES) Jennifer Saeger has been named principal of TPES. Ms. Saeger has served the students of Comal ISD since 2006, most recently as assistant principal of Indian Springs Elementary School. Prior to that she was the assistant principal of Rebecca Creek Elementary School and Goodwin Frazier Elementary School. She was a 5 th grade math teacher and team leader at Freiheit Elementary School from 2006 to 2009. Ms. Saeger has also worked for Alamo Heights ISD and Sand Springs Public Schools in Oklahoma. She earned a bachelor s degree and a master s degree from Oklahoma State University.
Canyon Middle School (CMS) Fred Steubing has been named the principal of CMS. Steubing comes to Comal ISD from Goose Creek ISD, where he has served in various capacities since 2010. He was most recently the academic dean/associate principal of Goose Creek Memorial High School and prior to that was the junior grade-level principal of that campus. He was the campus professional development coordinator/trainer for Stephen F. Austin High School in Fort Bend ISD from August 2008 to July 2010. He has also served in Katy ISD, Galena Park ISD, Liberty ISD and Sanger ISD. Steubing earned a master s degree at University of St. Thomas in Houston and a bachelor s degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Alamo Colleges-Memorial Early College High School (AC-MECHS) Chrysta Carlin has been named principal of AC-MECHS. Ms. Carlin comes to Comal ISD from Manor ISD, where she has served in various capacities since 2007. She was most recently the 21 st Century Academic Coordinator, which included serving as the 6 th -8 th grade science coordinator, primary leader of the district s Novice Teacher Program and District Liaison to the New Tech Network overseeing campus and district scale up of the New Tech Model at Decker Middle School. In Manor ISD, she also served as the 21 st Century Learning Professional Development Specialist and a Master Teacher and Administrative Intern at the New Technology High School. She earned a master s degree from Texas State University and a bachelor s degree from University of Texas. Mountain Valley Middle School (MVMS) Dr. Sean Maika has accepted a principal s position with North East ISD. A principal profile is currently being drawn up and applications are being considered.
In addition, several assistant principal positions have been announced. Arlon Seay (ASES) and Johnson Ranch (JRES) elementary schools Patsy Lovelady, formerly an assistant principal of Smithson Valley High School, will serve as assistant principal of both ASES and JRES. Clear Spring Elementary School (CSES) Lori McDonald, formerly assistant principal of Oak Creek Elementary School, will be the new assistant principal of CSES. Freiheit Elementary School (FES) Scott Dalton, formerly assistant principal of Canyon Middle School, will be the new assistant principal of FES. Goodwin Frazier (GFES) and Mountain Valley (MVES) elementary schools Steve Foster, formerly the assistant principal of Clear Spring Elementary School, will serve as assistant principal of both GFES and MVES. Garden Ridge Elementary School (GRES) Julie Cronkhite, formerly an instructional coach/intervention teacher at GRES, will be the new assistant principal. Hoffmann Lane Elementary School (HLES) Stacy Wilkie, formerly the librarian of HLES, will be the new assistant principal. Morningside Elementary School (MES) Brian Uriegas, formerly an assistant principal of Canyon Middle School, will be the assistant principal of MES.
Oak Creek Elementary School (OCES) Robin Svatek, formerly an intervention teacher at Morningside Elementary School, will be the new OCES assistant principal. Rahe Bulverde Elementary School (RBES) Jay Huffty, formerly assistant principal of Morningside Elementary, will be the new assistant principal of RBES. Canyon Middle School (CMS) Lauri Schroeder, formerly principal of Timberwood Park Elementary and Mark Oberholtzer, formerly an advanced placement world history teacher at Goose Creek Memorial High School in Goose Creek CISD, are the new assistant principals of CMS. Mountain Valley Middle School (MVMS) Chelsy Merrill, formerly academic dean of Smithson Valley High School, is a new assistant principal of MVMS. Canyon Lake High School (CLHS) Kristy Castilleja, formerly an assistant principal of Smithson Valley High School, is the new academic dean of CLHS. Smithson Valley High School (SVHS) Joanne Frantzen, formerly an instructional administrator at Del Valle Middle School in Del Valle ISD, is the new academic dean of SVHS. Comal Discipline Center (CDC) and Comal Academy Patti Vlieger, formerly the principal of Canyon Middle School, is the new assistant principal of CDC and Comal Academy.
