Application Application forms are available from the Sixth Form Office, and the Academy s website. Completed forms should be submitted along with the appropriate documented evidence of proof of income and benefits. Confirmation that an application has been successful and level of funding allocation will be communicated by letter to the student. Assessment Each time a student applies, and makes consequent claims for support, assessment criteria must be met. Payment of a claim is dependent on adhering to the learner agreement during the 3 weekly period prior to payment (or, if in the first half term, the preceding weeks), including: at least 95% attendance & attendance to Act of Worship ATL grades in all subjects Active Learner* or above meeting of homework and coursework deadlines adhering to all aspects of the learner agreement *Formerly known as Good Payment Payments are made to students only, not a third party. Half of the student s entitlement will be paid in block payments every 3 weeks. The amount will depend on their priority group and the number of applicants to the scheme. This will be confirmed by letter once all applications have been processed in the Autumn Term. The other half of the student s entitlement will be available for help with the purchasing of expensive items. This can be paid on a reimbursement basis (please provide valid receipts to the Sixth Form Office) or can be arranged through the Sixth Form Office. Payment will be made until the student completes their course e.g. if a student completes their course earlier than expected payments will be paid up until their last lesson. For reimbursement or for ordering of expensive items such as laptops, maximum limits do apply (please see table on page 1). PLEASE NOTE: Only one payment for a laptop or tablet or technology device will be made during a student s time in the Sixth Form. Technology items must be purchased before 22 December 2016 if reimbursement is required. Any purchase after this time will not be reimbursed. If there is difficulty paying for any item up front please contact the Sixth Form Office for advice. Educational Trips and Visits Support is available from the bursary fund towards educational trips and visits, but once a commitment to a trip has been made and bursary funds used towards the cost this money cannot be refunded if for any reason a student withdraws their commitment. Appeals If an application has not been approved, and/or you wish to appeal against any decision, this concern should be addressed to the Head of Sixth Form in writing. All communications regarding a bursary application and any claim should only be undertaken via the student and the academy, and no third party.
