SPM NSS REPORT 2016-2017 ORIENTATION DAY DATE- July, 2016 TIME- 11:30-12:00 VENUE-College Auditorium NUMBER OF STUDENTS-560 NUMBER OF TEACHERS-10 The Orientation Day of NSS Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College was an event to guide and introduce NSS students to the field of Social Work and to motivate them to work in the field of Social Service for a better society. It began with the Speech of Dr.Chandrakanta K. Mathur, Program Officer of NSS addressing students and introducing them to the world of social service. She guided students throughout the orientation session. A power point presentation was screened at the event to enable students in understanding the importance of social work which consisted of events organized by NSS last year. The event was a great success with mass participation of students and teachers alike.

SEMINAR ON SWACHHTA DATE 17 August, 2016 TIME- 11:30-12:30 VENUE- College Auditorium NUMBER OF STUDENTS 560 NUMBER OF TEACHERS- 13 CHIEF GUEST- Mayor South Delhi, Mr. Shyam Sharma The NSS of SPM College organized a seminar on SWACHHTA to promote cleanliness in the college campus. It began with the lamp lighting ceremony by Principal,Dr.Nita Kumar, Chief Guest, Mayor, Shyam Sharma and Program officer of NSS, Dr.Chandrakanta K Mathur. An introductory speech was given by the Principal to make students aware about Swacchta. A speech was given by Honorable Chief Guest Mr. Shyam Sharma on cleanliness and Hygiene.

A pledge taking ceremony took place in the college auditorium in which Students and teachers along with Chief Guest Mayor Shyam Sharma, Principal,Dr. Nita Kumar and Program Officer Dr. Chandrakanta K Mathur took pledge to keep the city and nation clean. Along with the seminar,an exhibition of best out of waste material took place outside the auditorium to make students aware about Recycling materials. The Program Officer of NSS interacted with Students and made them aware about how they can help in keeping the city clean in her speech. The event increased knowledge among students community and teachers and was a great experience for all. CAMPUS CLEANING DATE- 18 August, 2016 TIME- 11:30-12:00 VENUE- COLLEGE GROUND AND GAZEBO Area NUMBER OF STUDENTS- 40 Students

This event took place into two phases 1. Campus Cleaning 2. Gardening In the first phase- 10 Students Volunteer of NSS cleaned College grounds by picking up wastes such as plastic bottles and by using brooms. In the Second phase- 25 Students Volunteers along with NSS Program Officer Dr. Chandrakanta K Mathur did gardening by removing weeds and watering plants. This campus cleaning drive lasted for 30 minutes and about 25 students cleaned the college area together.

OUTSIDE CAMPUS CLEANING DATE- 19 August, 2016 TIME- 11:30-12:00 VENUE- Outside premises of SPM College NUMBER OF STUDENTS- 26 Students After Campus Cleaning, the volunteers of SPM College NSS cleaned the area outside Campus. It includes roads, car-parking area outside SPM College. About 25 students took the responsibility of keeping area around SPM College clean. The cleaning drive lasted for 2 hours. CAMPAIGNING BY VOLUNTEERS DATE- 25 August, 2016 TIME- 11:30-12:30 VENUE- Central Market Punjabi Bagh NUMBER OF STUDENTS- 30 Students

To make citizens aware about cleanliness and hygiene, volunteers of SPM College NSS went to Central Market Punjabi Bagh Area. Students interacted with shopkeepers, food stall owners, fellow students and citizens to make them realize the importance of a neat and clean neighborhood. DOOR TO DOOR CAMPAIGNING BY VOLUNTEERS DATE- 26 August, 2016 TIME- 11:30-12:30 VENUE- Punjabi Bagh Residential Colony NUMBER OF STUDENTS- 25 Students On 26 th of August, NSS volunteers went for a door to door campaign in Punjabi Bagh Residential Colony. Volunteers met residents of Punjabi Bagh and interacted with them to teach them the importance of a clean household.

AWARENESS RALLY DATE- 31 August,2016 TIME- 11:30-12:00 VENUE- COLLEGE CAMPUS TO CENTRAL MARKET PUNJABI BAGH NUMBER OF STUDENTS- 37 Students NSS Volunteers along with Program Officer Dr. Chandrakanta K Mathur went for an awareness rally along. With banners and Pla-cards the students raised slogans such as Clean India, My dream India and took the streets of Punjabi Bagh towards awareness.

POSTER-MAKING AND SLOGAN WRITING COMPETITION DATE- 7 September, 2016 TIME- 11:30-12:30 VENUE- Plaza Area NUMBER OF STUDENTS- 39 Students Students participated actively in Poster-Making and Slogan Writing Competition under NSS of SPM College. The topic for Poster Making was GREEN ENVIRONMENT And for Slogan Writing was SWACHHTA ABHIYAN

NSS DAY CELEBRATION DATE-24 September, 2016 TIME- 11:30-01:00 VENUE- COLLEGE FOYER, Punjabi Bagh Area for Rally NUMBER OF STUDENTS- 35 Students (for competition) 52 (for rally) AWARENESS RALLY On NSS DAY, SPM NSS Volunteers went for an Awareness Rally in college and outside college area to make people aware about substance abuse. Students raise slogans and walked with play-cards.

SLOGAN WRITING COMPETITION To celebrate NSS Day, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College NSS organized a slogan writing competition on the theme- DRUG ADDICTION. Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyaan NSS Shyama Prasad Mukherji College took the initiative to educate the masses about cashless methods. The process began on 26 th December 2016 and ended on 11 th of January 2017. This project of teaching people began with a Seminar on cashless methods, followed by fieldwork where volunteers of NSS taught methods like PayTM, Mobiwink, etc in their neighbourhood and market place area. The fieldwork ended on 11 th of January 2017 and forms have been submitted.

1. Seminar on various online and offline Payment Methods. The Seminar began with a great start. NSS Program Officer Dr. Chandrakanta Mam gave a motivational speech and a power-point presentation was shown to students to make them understand about various payment methods. Bank officials of different banks came together to teach students about cashless payment methods. Another cashless payment method was introduced by a student of SPM College.

Volunteers of NSS took active participation in the seminar which was followed by an interactive session.

Volunteers understood various methods of payment, Result Groups were divided according to different zones of delhi to teach people. 2. Fieldwork Fieldwork began on 27 th of December. Various groups have been divided ranging from north campus to Punjabi Bagh to Rohini East to Karol Bagh. Volunteers taught Cashless Payment methods to people of different backgrounds ranging from their market area to neighbourhood.

Problems faced by Volunteers- 1. Some people were not interested in listening. 2. Some people like a rickshaw puller doesn t have a bank account. 3. Some people do not own a mobile phone. 4. Some people found methods like PayTM and Mobiwik complicated. 3. Result In the nutshell, the experience remained satisfactory and our NSS reached to 95 people

forms filled by volunteers during the end of the cashless campaign session.

International women s Day The NSS of SPM College celebrated to the International women s Day at 8 th March 2017 in the Hall -2 Program officer of NSS, Dr. Chandrakanta K Mathur with all students of SPM college. Student discussed on freedom of women in present scenario, the performed some cultural items on the occasion like dance, poems, PPT presentation etc.
