The program is designed around four major themes: consultation and collaboration; inclusion and diversity; authenticity, and reflection, which are embedded within each course. Fieldwork is a key component of the education program, but there is flexibility for those working full-time while attending graduate school.

Clinical training is one of the program's greatest strengths, with individualized clinical opportunities at clinical genetics sites throughout the Delaware Valley. The program meets the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) for curriculum content, clinical experience and overall program design. Received Full Accreditation for eight years from the ACGC in 2016.
