SHMS Staff spotlight Meet.Nicole Card Position: 7th grade Math and Title Math Teacher What do you love about working at SHMS? The students and staff are amazing. I love being a part of the SHMS culture. What was your favorite subject in school? I loved English when I was in high school. My appreciation for math grew in college. What are some of your hobbies? My childrens hobbies have become my hobbies. I love watching them grow and come into their own. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? I love to travel and there are so many amazing places to see. The top of my list these days is Norway.
Attendance Attitude: We love it when our kids come to school as much as possible! What can you do at home? Help your kids stay engaged Find out if your child feels engaged by his classes and feels safe from bullies and other threats. Make sure he/she is not missing class because of behavioral issues and school discipline policies. If any of these are problems, work with your school. Stay on top of academic progress and seek help from teachers or tutors if necessary. Stay on top of your child s social contacts. Peer pressure can lead to skipping school, while students without many friends can feel isolated. Encourage meaningful afterschool activities, including sports and clubs. Make sure teachers know how to contact with you.
