About the Conference South Asian University was jointly established in 2010 by the eight SAARC countries. We already run master and Ph.D. level programs in seven areas including one in Biotechnology. Mandate of the SAU is to inculcate Regional Consciousness amongst students from South Asian countries and to promote cooperation and collaborations amongst these countries. It has been our endeavor to provide in SAU a forum where scholars from various South Asian countries may interact, exchange ideas and develop collaborative joint projects. For this purpose, the Faculty of Life Sciences and Biotechnology (FLSB), SAU proposes to organize a SouthAsian Biotechnology Conference. This conference will bring together the researchers from all the SAARC countries where they can present their research and get firsthand information about the kind of work being carried out in other SAARC countries. Towards the end of this conference, we plan to have one session to discuss the feasibility and modalities of enhanced cooperation amongst researchers in SAARC countries in the area of Life Sciences and Biotechnology. In this session the policies and modes of facilitating cooperation amongst different countries in specific areas like the GM crops, stem cell research and infectious diseases etc will be discussed.
Scientific Program The conference will consist of invited oral presentations in Medical Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Animal Biotechnology and Plant Biotechnology. The fee will cover lunch and access to scientific sessions. Accommodation can be arranged on request with an additional fee.
