Intelligence is a very important psychological construct. Students of psychology fraternity must be familiar with this concept. If we talk about the basics then it comes first. Not only it is required for academics but it is also necessary for students to increase the possibility of employability. For last couple of years parents are very much interested in knowing the IQ level of their children for many purposes. Considering the need and utility of this concept the Department of Applied Psychology organized workshop on Intelligence Testing for its students on 26-August-2016 at Seminar Hall-II, University Auditorium. The workshop started with the inaugural address of Prof. Sandeep Singh Rana. In his inaugural address he welcomed the distinguished guests, faculty members and the participants. Dr. Rana shared his views on this topic and highlighted the need of assessment of this concept. Besides that he apprised the students about the utility of intelligence testing in professional and academics as well. Further he shared that this workshop will be a milestone in the life of those students who aspire to groom their career in clinical psychology.

Prof. Dwarka Pershad, (Former Additional Professor Retd., PGI, Chandigarh) as a resource person shared his experiences as a clinical psychologist during his professional career. Workshop started with the introduction of intelligence in depth by the keynote speaker and demonstrated various frequently used tests in psychiatry and clinical psychology. Besides that the need and importance of IQ Assessment was also comprehensively dealt by the expert. He stressed upon the utility of IQ assessment knowing brain pathology, learning disability and marital conflicts as well. Most important tests basically for the screening of the pathological individual were also demonstrated by the keynote speaker. Dr Pershad highlighted the importance of behavioural observation during the administration of tests and it is very important to write down the behaviour of the client. It was a very interactive workshop as participants asked many questions and they seemed very satisfied.

The workshop concluded with the memento presentation. Dr. Sanjay Kumar extended heartfelt thanks to Prof. Dwarka Pershad from PGI Chandigarh. He also extended his warm thanks to the Chairperson of the department Prof. Sandeep Singh Rana and the students who were instrumental in the smooth conduction of workshop.

Department of applied psychology A Report on Induction Programme, The Department of Applied Psychology organized a one day Induction Programme for M. Sc on 07/08/2016. The objectives behind this induction programme were: To help students get familiarized with the course, University and Departmental activities. To support students to prepare effectively to meet the demands of their course and eventual career path To provide information on respective roles of students and teaching faculty To encourage students to disclose their needs and seek appropriate support To help students to acquire the basic concepts of the discipline of the University The chairperson of the department Prof Sandeep Singh Rana apprised the students bout the Departmental Vision and Mission of the department ice breaking activity for both the groups of students. In the afternoon Dr Narender, Assistant Librarian educated the students about functioning of the library.introduction to Social Work curriculum, Research and Online course MOOC. Dr Victor Paul and Dr. Sheeja gave introduction to teaching/learning methodology; especially on project based learning through self study mode, skill and competency building and Journal club activities. Later, the students were divided into smaller groups and were taken on campus tour. The senior students accompanied them. On the second day, Prof. Mathew CP and Prof. Bharathi gave presentation on Field exposure visits, internships, cross cultural field study and report writing. Later, panel discussion with internship specialists was organized. Ms. Laveena Micheal from BEL and Mr. Vivek from Jockey International interacted with MSWHRDM students and Dr. Naveen from Headstreams and Dr. Tony Sam George from Department of Psychology, CU interacted with MSWCCP students. Dr. Bino Thomas distributed the

induction document to the students and had a discussion and also clarified doubts regarding induction programme. All the students left to BOSCO in the afternoon for an orientation visit. Prof. Mathew CP accompanied the group.the workshop concluded with the memento presentation. Dr. Sanjay Kumar extended heartfelt thanks to Prof. Dwarka Pershad from the Amity University Haryana. She also extended her warm thanks to the organizing team, faculty members, students and the members of the supporting staff.
