Newsletter November 2016 Page 2 Education Week We celebrated Education Week at Assiniboia Park on the evening of October 19. We had a great evening which included Taco in a Bag supper, entertainment by our students, and the book fair. Thank you to all who supported our book fair. Congratulations to Paisley L. (Kindergarten) and her teacher Ms. Moffat for winning the Family Door Prize of $25.00 each in product from the Book Fair. Several students also won posters. Our school library earned over $1800 in product and cash commissions from book fair sales. Thank you for making this another very successful event! School Lock Down It is possible that an emergency may prevent the safe evacuation of the school and require steps to be taken to isolate students and staff from danger. This is called a lock down where students and staff take cover inside the school. We have had a lock down procedure in place for several years. Teachers explain the procedure to their students prior to practicing it. We will be conducting a few lock down drills throughout this school year. Our first drill will be conducted in the next few weeks. If you have any questions please give Mr. Manning a call. Remembrance Day Ceremony We will be holding our Remembrance Day Ceremony at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10. Parents are welcome to attend. Students will be given a poppy to wear during the ceremony. Donations for poppies should be sent to school by Wednesday, November 9. All money collected will be sent to the Weyburn Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. There is no school on Friday, November 11 due to the Remembrance Day holiday.
