Qualifications (Both female & male students may apply) (1) One who has obtained a bachelor s degree in Korea or abroad before February, 2015. (2) Foreign student whose parents are both foreigners (3) Applicants who have Korean or English language test scores for one of the following tests should submit their scores. Applicants must meet the following minimum required scores: TOPIK level 3 or higher TOEFL 550, CBT 210, ibt 80, IELTS 5.5, TEPS 550, MATE-Speaking CL/Writing MH (or higher). Alternatively, applicants with other internationally authorized English test scores may submit those scores. (English test scores are only accepted for students with majors in which all classes are taught in English.) Accepted students who have registered and do not have any Korean or English language scores must take a Language Proficiency Exam before the semester starts. If the results are lower than the requirement, a leave of absence should be taken until an acceptable score is obtained. Exception: 1. Korean or other national Government Scholarship students must follow the regulations provided by the appropriate government 2. Applicants in the arts and physical education: TOPIK level 2, English score-toefl 523, CBT 193, ibt 70, MATE-Speaking CE/Writing MM etc. or higher 3. Applicants who received a BA or MA degree in Korea, or those who graduated with a major in Korean language, and those who has achieved a certificate of 4 or over from our school s International Language Education Institute are exempt from testing. 33

(4) You can apply for your preferred major regardless of your primary major or GPA. 4. Documents to Summit 1 Application Form (Form Provided) 2 Graduation (or expected to graduate) certificate and Degree certificate 3 Official University Transcript 4 Certificate of Entry and Exit and Alien Registration Card(for parents and/or student who are in Korea only) 5 Letter of Recommendation 6 Activity Record (Form Provided) 7 Official documents indicating family relationship between the applicant and her parents Ex) for Chinese students- domiciliary record/record of Relative Relations, others- Certificate of Birth or Family Record (additional record) 8 Certificate of Foreign Nationality (Parents and Student: a copy of citizenship or passport) 9 Korean Language skill test score TOPIK 10 TESOL Applicants should also attach these further forms - Resume in English and Study Plan in English (Each page should be A4 size and approx. 500 words long) - SMU-TESOL or YL-TESOL transcripts- if you have already completed the TESOL course - Those who are about to complete SMU-TESOL or YL-TESOL must submit an Enrollment recommendation letter. 11 Proof of Employment - Only for Special Education, TESOL: Elementary/Middle/High School teacher admission We might ask you to bring additional documents than the ones listed All documents in other languages except Korean or English must be submitted with notarized Korean or English translations. Documents and certificates from schools abroad should be submitted with an Apostille affixed. Nationals of countries that have not signed the Apostille treaty must get verification from the local Korean consulate. If you cannot participate in the interview test due to being overseas, Study and Research Plan should be submitted by handwriting and the interview will be conducted by phone. Students who have obtained their bachelor s and master s degree in China must submit the Chinese Higher Education Academic History Fact Report issued by the Ministry of Education Academic Approval Center (http://www.chsi.com.cn). <Regarding submission of documents from schools overseas (diplomas, certificates, transcripts, etc.)> For students from schools part of the Apostille Agreement 1. Documents issued from schools overseas should be submitted along with the Apostille Certificate. 2. Apostille Certificate is designated for issuing at a facility by each government. Possible to receive information (directory and phone number) regarding your country s designated Apostille facility from Korea s Embassy and Consulate. 3. If 'Apostille Certificate is received, there is no need for confirmation on education institute from abroad. Documentation with and Apostille Confirmation holds the equal validity of a document confirmed by our embassy following the ANADODCM (Act on Notarial Acts Done at Overseas Diplomatic and Consular Missions). 4. Even countries part of Agreement of Apostille, like diplomatic offices until agreement is settled, can be issued with a confirmation by the overseas education institute or the embassy. Or documents with a confirmation by the embassy do not require an Apostille confirmation. 5. Students who have not submitted the confirmation of Apostille of by the overseas education institute during the document submission period at Sookmyung, they will have to make sure so that it will be ready after their acceptance. If all documents are not fully submitted, acceptance can be cancelled. Documents issued by schools overseas, has to receive confirmation from the overseas education institute or Korean embassy within their country. If the applicant cannot take the writing exam due to living abroad, there will be a phone interview and email correspondence instead. (6) Traditional Culture and Arts 1 Traditional Dance DIV. DIV. If the applicant cannot take the practical test due to living abroad, please submit the video file of your actual performance. Writing Test: based on music theory, essay on Korean Music (Ex: Gukak Theory, Gukak education, Gukak industry etc) (1 free topic, 1 given topic: manuscript paper 10 pages 2,000 words) The given topic will be announced on the exam day. If the applicant cannot take the writing test due to living abroad, please submit a study plan. 77

Those who have not finished SMU-TESOL/YL-TESOL course, but have been accepted to the TESOL Graduate School must finish SMU-TESOL or YL-TESOL in the first semester. Course division and registration must be based on your SMU-TESOL/YL-TESOL course schedule. (SMU-TESOL/YL-TESOL starts at February 1(spring) and August 1(fall). Eligibility: Foreign students with both foreign parents who acquired foreign citizenship by changing both parents and student s nationality or one of the parents and student, and enrolled by special admission. b. Necessary Documents: Activity Record or Letter of Recommendation c. Evaluation Criteria: Content of Recommendation Letter, Activity Record, school GPA, Development Potential Entrance and Tuition Fee will differentiate according to the following semester and standard for tuition of major Decided by the Sookmyung Global Scholarship evaluation, regarding the number of applicants and etc. Through evaluation, housing fee, airplane ticket fee may be additionally supported. 2) Scholarship while in School (Regular Semester: Within 4 Semesters for Masters Course) Previous GPA(4.3) Above 3.7 Support percentage 100% of tuition fee 3.5 ~ 3.7 70% of tuition fee 3.0 ~ 3.5 50% of tuition fee 2.7 ~ 3.0 30% of tuition fee 2.3 ~ 2.7 10% of tuition fee 3) Notice on Scholarship while in School a. Further information relating to filling out your application (1) After filling out your application, you must print it out and send it by the due date. (2) Any incompletion or mistake on the application, unsent application, late application etc. is the applicant s responsibility. Once the application is received, we are unable to return the application and/or refund the application fee. (3) If illegal or falsified method was used and you were accepted, we will cancel your admission. 9. CLASS Classes are twice a week and are held after 18:00.
