Safety Bay Primary School Newsletter 04-23rd March Dear Subscribers Name This fortnight's news from Safety Bay Bay Primary School is now available to view online. Penguin Pantry Thank you to all who shared Harmony Day with us. It was wonderful to serve so many people. Take a look at some of the foods of the world we served at breakfast and recess...

...sorry - we were way too busy at lunch to take any photos of lunch time foods :) But we were very happy with that - we served double the usual number of Wednesday lunches. Thank you to the amazing team of helpers who made it all possible. Formula One Racing! KidsMatter The KidsMatter Playground Project is going Strong! In this play area, children have access to a variety of equipment that encourages them to invent and create, and work together as a team. These students below are clearly destined to become Design Engineers in

Summer Carnival Our annual RASSA Summer carnival was held on a pleasant Autumn day, Thursday 15 th March. Our two ultimate frisbee teams travelled to Lark Hill, two soccer teams to Safety Bay High School and our three netball teams to the Mike Barnett Stadium. Congratulations to all of our students who reportedly had a great day, with very pleasing sportsmanship and behaviour shown by Safety Bay Primary School participants. It is always a pleasure to take these children away to events like this when they conduct themselves so well. There were five primary schools represented at each of the carnivals: Safety Bay, Charthouse, Port Kennedy, Rockingham Beach and Rockingham Lakes. Our results for the day were: Netball: Team A Winners!; Team B 2 nd ; Team B2 3 rd OVERALL: 1 st - WINNERS of the shield. Thank you to Mrs Aislabie for helping to coach and train leading up to the carnival and on the day and to Mr White for volunteering his time to coach a team on the day. Breakfast Club News Safety Bay Primary School Breakfast Club would like to acknowledge Kleenheat for the $2000 grant that the school recently received. Through this grant the Breakfast Club has been able to purchase a new freezer and the remainder of the money will be put towards purchasing Milo. Thank you Kleenheat!

Principal's Word It is an exciting time of year, with the Easter break around the corner and footy season about to kick off. Equally there is plenty happening at Safety Bay Primary School, with students beginning to see their progress after eight weeks of hard work to start the year. This year s Harmony Day theme is Everyone Belongs. There are a variety of activities happening in classrooms across the school, where students will be exploring this theme and what it means. Harmony Day is all about promoting inclusiveness, respect and creating a sense of belonging for all Australians. These themes are further supported throughout the year with our You Can Do It dispositions and 5 Rs. Each year the School Board holds a Public Open Meeting, which is an opportunity for community members to observe the workings of the School Board and gain a better understanding of the operation of the school. This meeting will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday 5th April in the school staff room. I hope to see you there. Reminders Public Schools are closed on Good Friday, Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday. In Term 2 our School Development Day is scheduled on Monday 7 th May, with Term 2 beginning for students on Monday the 30 th of April. Please return your student update forms. This updated information is crucial to ensure we have the correct contact details and medical information. If you are having any concerns with your child s progress, please make an arrangement to speak to your child s classroom teacher so you can work together to support their learning. Phil Springett Principal Scholastic Book Club - Easter Orders
