Welcome SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES & APPLIED SCIENCES Morley College London is one of the oldest and largest specialist adult education institutions in the UK, offering a wide range of courses for students interested in business, humanities, natural sciences, art, music and performing arts. These higherlevel qualifications are designed to give you the work skills you need to stand out in the job market and build your career, and they re ideal for adults who want to go further in education but are concerned about the cost or time commitment of a university degree. As a student with us you ll learn from tutors with professional experience in the sector, and benefit from the College s modern dedicated learning spaces. And while they re professional qualifications in their own right, if you decide you want a full degree, many UK universities run a top-up programme that awards credit for previous study. HND BUSINESS Whether you want to realise your entrepreneurial dream or go further in a corporate role, Morley s HND Business programme will provide you with the skills to become an effective business practitioner. You will be introduced to a number of business theories and learn to apply them for the benefit of your current or future business. You will learn to plan for your business s growth and become familiar with strategies that you can implement to make your business ideas a success.

Resources LEARNING RESOURCES AT MORLEY COLLEGE LONDON All of our students have access to our modern learning facilities and study spaces. The College has a range of specialist resources to support the delivery of the course, including our Learning Centre, where you will have access to computers, scanners and printers and a wide range of software. As an HND student with us, you will also have access to the library at London South Bank University, and you ll have access to HN Global, a free online platform that will help you create links with other Higher Education students worldwide. STAFF PROFILE: Alexandra Isevski, Business and Enterprise tutor, HND Business Alexandra Isevski is a committed tutor with practical experience in business development, enterprise, collaborative partnerships and project management in higher education institutions. Alexandra teaches business development and enterprise, with a focus on budding entrepreneurs. Her lessons are targeted at individuals with business ideas that have the potential to be scaled-up within three years. They are practical, interactive and thought provoking, which usually helps students to polish their ideas, improve their business plan, and create a personal brand and marketing strategy. She also has numerous employability 1-2-1 sessions under her belt. Alexandra says that her aim is to instil confidence, can-do attitude and knowledge to the future Mark Zuckerbergs and Arianna Huffingtons of London.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS If you have recently been in education it is likely that one of the following will provide a suitable entry profile: a relevant level 3 qualification (including A-levels, BTEC National Diplomas etc) a GCE profile that indicates strong performance in a relevant subject an Access to Higher Education Diploma. MATURE STUDENTS We welcome applications from anyone who feels that they are capable of reaching the standards required by the qualification. We appreciate that mature students may have extensive relevant experience gained through paid or unpaid work, or through other types of professional training or sector-related opportunities and this experience may be used to support an application. ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR): Level B2 PTE Academic overall score: 51 Reading and writing must be at IELTS 5.5 or equivalent for nonnative English speakers.

PROGRAMME AIMS The aim of this programme is to help you develop the professional skills to become an effective business practitioner. Having completed this course you will have a nationally recognised Level 5 qualification and may be able to progress to the third year of an undergraduate degree programme, take your current enterprise to a new level, or start your own business. The HND in Business aims to develop: skills, knowledge and understanding of business in a range of contexts practical higher level business skills critical and analytical skills employment and collaborative work skills. LEARNING OUTCOMES By the end of the course you will know: how businesses of any size interact with other agents, such as the government, other businesses and consumer unions how to successfully set and manage your business projects how to create a marketing plan and promote a product how to select and recruit new staff, and develop positive relationships with the old one how to prepare financial statements and forecasts, to ensure financial stability and growth.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The Level 5 Higher National Diploma consists of the Level 4 Higher National Certificate plus an additional 120 credits at Level 5 delivered via the General Business pathway. Relevant apprenticeship pathways from HND Business include: accounting, banking, insurance, business innovation, marketing and sales. TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT Your course will be taught using a range of teaching methods, including lectures and seminars, case study analyses, group discussions and tutorial sessions. All teaching and learning activities are designed to promote equality of opportunity and accessibility for all students. Most teaching will take place in structured lectures or seminars, which will give you a solid foundation for your knowledge and understanding of your area of study and the key concepts within it. You will also be given a number of practical assignments and projects to work on as part of your course, which will allow you to explore what you learn in the classroom and strengthen your knowledge further. These projects and assignments will also help you develop transferable skills, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, time management and working as part of a team. You will also be expected to engage in independent learning, which may take the form of elearning activities via Moodle, independent research, or other relevant tasks. Assessment will take place through coursework, projects, tests and an observation of work-related practice. We will take into account both your marks on formal assignments and the understanding you demonstrate within your classes when assessing your progress. You will receive feedback on your work throughout the course, both in response to formal assessments and as part of your overall learning experience. Support for Learning COLLEGE WIDE STUDENT SUPPORT FOR LEARNING Studying at Morley provides you with access to a wide range of facilities and services including specialist facilities for courses, our Library, and our Learning Centre with hundreds of resources, plus free computer and internet access. Higher Education students will also have access to London South Bank University Library. LEARNER VOICE Listening to and learning from our student body is important to Morley. It is well established, and represents strong democratic traditions at the College where the input of students to our development is highly valued. Our Student Engagement Policy covers all aspects of College activities relating to and affecting students and their role as active partners in College development. We set standards and monitor the quality of courses and all our services in a number of ways including course evaluations by students and feedback forms. Students are represented on many Morley College committees and groups. The Class Representatives Committee (CRC) and the Student Council (SC) are amongst the most important of these groups. MORLEY ACTIVITIES, CLUBS AND SOCIETIES The College is proud of the wide range of concerts, exhibitions and student performances that are held throughout the year. We hope you find time to enjoy them. Morley has its own gallery opposite the main building with an exciting annual programme of exhibitions by students, staff, independent artists, national organisations and local community organisations. Morley also has a range of clubs and societies that students can join, depending on their area of interest.

As they are recognised as professional qualifications, once you graduate you can move into the world of work and may be able to enter at a higher level.
