Activities Brochure 2014-2015

Oxfordshire Youth has built this strong and vibrant collection of activities, exclusively for our Partners and Associates as part of the Partnership Programme 2014-15. To book an activity simply email admin@oxfordshireyouth.org with: The name of the activity you would like to book All potential dates, including preferred times The number of young people you would expect to attend and their age ranges Full address of activity venue and contact details for us to pass to the activity provider If resources are needed for the activity, please confirm that you are able to meet these Booking Notes: Full partners are entitled to two FREE activities, all other activities for full partners, booked through Oxfordshire Youth, above the two free entitlements will be offered at the subsidised rate of 10% off. Associate partners are offered the subsidised rate of 10% off all activities booked through Oxfordshire Youth. Activity bookings are subject to availability and appropriate facilities being available.

ART Grafitti Working collaboratively in groups of up to 20 on either a portable graffiti wall or a permanent wall inside the venue to create a graffiti mural. Starting off by planning ideas on paper, we can tailor the outcome to whatever theme wanted. Once the design is planned we get to work on the wall with large black pens. Often adding a splash of colour to the design to keep it looking bold and fresh. Min. 90 min sessions 35 per hour/ 250 per day Resources required: Space to bring in 12 x 8ft portable wall OR a clean and prepped wall for painting on Creative Senses Art Workshops Oxfordshire Youth Arts Team can come to youth groups with bespoke art workshops covering a range of art forms including; photography, stop-motion film, collage, song-writing, drama, paper craft, visual arts and more! Also available, using art as a medium, are empowerment and gender-based workshops. Get your young peoples creative imagination flowing and their senses enlightened.

SPORTS MULTI-SPORTS We have a selection of activity providers that we work closely with that all provide variations of Multi-sports. Let us know your desired sporting combinations and we will find the right provider for you! Please also include age range, group size and details of the venue and facilities. Capoeira Participants will learn movements of Capoeira, music and songs, followed by a chance to play in a Capoeira roda (circle). 90 min session: 80 p/s Requirements: sound system and some clear floor space Boxing An introduction to the sport of amateur boxing presenting it as a game of skill, discipline, respect and self-control, but not forgetting fun! It s energising, non-contact boxing that involves teaching the basics such as stance/ guard, footwork and all the related punches and defences. This session gives the opportunity to learn amateur boxing without the hurting or being hurt and provides a healthy channel for youthful energy and natural aggression. 90 min session 60 p/s All Boxing gloves and skipping ropes will be provided

DANCE Body Politic Street Dance workshop An opportunity to learn some cool street dance moves and create your own! Body Politic works with individuals from all backgrounds and ages to improve self-confidence and self-esteem through dance. We provide unique training opportunities for dancers to fulfil their own potential in a safe, relaxed and fun environment. 60min sessions 45 p/s Resources required: large enough space to move around in Creative Dance and Performance workshops Suitable age range: 11-19 years With guidance and support, participants will be encouraged to create their own experimental performances using movement, speech, and props. Sessions will cover a range of themes and issues, relating to current culture, personal or political. Gender Empowerment sessions will relate specifically to the female body and images of women in today's society. 90-120min session 40-50p/s Resources required: large enough space to move around in Suitable age range:11-25 years 6-18 young people p/s

DANCE cont. Multi-Dance workshops Participants get to dance, have fun, express, get active and learn something new! Classes can be held in the styles of Street, Jazz, Commercial, Contemporary and the foundations of Locking or House. If participants would like to try more than one style there is an option for 2 mini-sessions. 60min sessions 45 p/s Resources required: large enough space to move around in Flaw R Tists Breakdance and Acrobatics Learn how to top-rock, six step and spin in this introduction to breakdance and acrobatics. The session is full of energy and Marcus likes to encourage the young people to really engage with the music and feel the beat. The session can be tailored for all ages and abilities. 60-90 min session 35 p/h Resources required: large enough space to move around in

MUSIC DJ / Lyrics / Music Production Workshops DJ workshop (age range 12-16): Learn how to scratch and mix Hip Hop, Electronica and Dubstep in small groups of 4-5 Lyric Writing: (age range 12-16): Develop creative writing techniques in the context of Hip Hop lyrics, learn how to write and perform bars and even some battle rapping skills. Improves confidence. Works best in groups of 4-8.
