Call for Applicants The Centre for Global Child Health at The Hospital for Sick Children is recruiting fellows for the Academic Global Child Health Fellowship training program. We are accepting applications for the start date of July 2017. The Global Child Health Fellowship program is the first in Canada to concentrate on preparing candidates for academic careers in global child health. The goal is to create an exceptional training program that will serve to develop leadership and scholarly skills in working with disadvantaged paediatric populations (from neonates to adolescents), and their families, throughout the world. Applicants should be looking to start a challenging 2-year fellowship program. This interdisciplinary program will be accepting applicants from a variety of clinical, health care, research, and other related professional backgrounds (e.g., MDs, nursing, allied health, epidemiology, etc.). Clinical fellows must have either: i) a graduate degree (e.g. MPH, MSc Epidemiology, or related discipline); OR, ii) significant scholarly experience within one of the following focus areas: research, capacity building through education, or knowledge translation, advocacy and policy. Non-clinical fellows will be expected to have: i) a doctoral graduate degree (e.g. PhD Epidemiology, Nutritional Sciences, or related discipline); AND, ii) demonstrated significant scholarship within one of the following focus areas: research, capacity building through education, or knowledge translation, advocacy and policy. To be eligible to apply for this Fellowship, one must meet the following criteria: 1. A) Professional degree (e.g., MD, MBBS, nursing, etc.): Clinical fellows are expected to have completed either a post-graduate degree (e.g. MPH, MSc Epidemiology, or related discipline), or have significant scholarly experience within one of the following focus areas: research, capacity building through education, or knowledge translation, advocacy and policy. OR B) Post-Doctoral (e.g. PhD Epidemiology, Nutritional Sciences, or related discipline): Non-clinical fellows are expected to have demonstrated exemplary scholarship within one of the following focus areas: research, capacity building through education, or knowledge translation, advocacy and policy. 2. If the applicant s career trajectory includes clinical duties (e.g. MDs., nurses, etc.), the applicant must be associated with a hospital-based clinical program during the fellowship, or be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain clinical competence. 3. Have shown significant interest and exemplary scholarship in global child health. Global Child Health Fellows will have academic, educational, and mentorship opportunities in child health throughout the two-year fellowship. They will be expected to choose an area of research or scholarship that

falls in line with one of the pillars of the Centre: Research, Capacity Building through Education, or Knowledge Translation, Advocacy, and Policy, but will gain expertise in all domains. In order to secure funding to support their academic endeavors, applicants will be expected to apply to funding agencies and grants in the year leading up to their fellowship. Members of the Centre will be available to support grant, fellowship, and research competition applications. Centre funding for the Fellowship is limited. Although the Centre will help facilitate funding, there is an expectation that funding will be obtained from external sources. Information regarding the Centre for Global Child health can be found at: http://www.sickkids.ca/globalchildhealth/ Interested applicants can contact the Global Child Health Fellowship Program Committee at cgch.fellowship@sickkids.ca for further information.
