PART 5: STATEMENT OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT By law, students must document that they have the financial means to cover the entire cost of studying and living in the U.S. for the entire length of their program of study. Students admitted to a multi-year program may choose to show financial means for the first year, then capability to pay during subsequent years. Please read through the next few pages for complete details and examples of acceptable documentation. All documentation must be in ENGLISH. Financial documentation submitted to another YU office will not be forwarded to, or shared, with the OISS. EXPENSES: The cost of tuition, fees, and living expenses, is dependent upon a student s academic program of study and campus location. The following budget is an estimate, based on an average student enrolled full-time at Yeshiva University. Actual expenses may be slightly higher or lower, depending on your standard of living. Students must show financial support for no less than the annual amount estimated for their program of study. Working inside the U.S. is severely restricted by U.S. immigration regulations. DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES: Document all sources of financial support. Students may show multiple sources of funding. All financial documentation must be on letterhead, note the name of the sponsor and be in English. Documentation submitted in a language other than English will not be accepted. Typically, sponsors provide: - A bank account/brokerage account showing enough money for the full length of your academic program OR, - A bank account/brokerage account showing enough money for the first year AND proof of income (tax return plus pay stubs or salary letter). Bank statements may be no older than 6 months. Sponsors promising free room and board must show a lease or deed with sponsor s name AND proof of income (see below). Documentation may be scanned or faxed, however, Yeshiva University reserves the right to request original documentation if necessary to determine financial capability.
