INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL EXAMINATIONS This booklet has been produced to assist IB coordinators and examination invigilators in the conduct of IB Diploma examinations for. It should be read in conjunction with Section G of the Handbook of Procedures. The booklet lists the additional materials that s require for each examination paper. This information is arranged in the order of the examination schedule. Candidates must write in either blue or black ink (except for multiple choice papers). Candidates should use pencils for drawing and for multiple choice papers. Any further requirements are given in the subject-specific schedule below. Items of general stationery, such as erasers, coloured pencils, rulers and geometry instruments are allowed for all examinations. A magnifying glass is allowed for map work on Geography higher and standard level resources booklet. Candidates should take at least a pen, a pencil and a ruler to all examinations. No dictionaries are allowed for examinations in Groups 1 and 2. A translating dictionary (i.e. one which contains word-for-word translations, and no definitions) is allowed only in Groups 3 to 6 examinations. Electronic dictionaries are not allowed. Calculators are not allowed unless specifically stated as required in the subject-specific schedule below (specifications regarding the different types of calculator permitted are given below and in the Handbook of Procedures, Section G). No text books/note books/instruction books are to be brought into the examination room. Clean copies of data booklets/information booklets/case studies as listed in the subject-specific schedule below must be provided by the school. They should not be brought into the examination room by s. The use of tippex/correction fluid is not allowed. Rough paper can be used if s require it and should be provided by the school. It should not be submitted to the examiner, but should be handed in to the invigilator at the end of the examination. Answer sheets (provided by IB Cardiff) must be available to s for all examinations except multiple choice papers. The recommended quantity required by each is outlined in the subject-specific schedule below. However, s may use as many or as few sheets as they require. Ensure that sufficient copies are available for all s. If 0* appears in this column, should be available but they need only be given to s if they request them. The tags provided by IB Cardiff must be used to join or examination papers to cover sheets. They should also be used to attach graph paper to the s answers. The last column of the tables below indicates the number of sheets of 2mm square graph paper (provided by IB Cardiff) that s should have on their desk at the start of each examination. If 0* appears in this column, graph paper should be available but it needs only be given to s if they request it.

Examples of calculators which comply with IB regulations The IBO does not endorse any particular make or model of calculator. However, in order to assist teachers, coordinators and s, the following list provides examples of programmable, graphic display calculators which are recommended.
